We all have the same musical taste in general since we all love Oasis and Noel besides a few trolls.. Reading the reviews it looks like the RiverMan is most people's favorite? While Girl with x ray glasses is in the bottom half... The one song I listened to over and over was Girl with the x ray glasses .. It's far more interesting in it's melody and deliver than Riverman... I think Riverman was good but not a great song.. X ray glasses on the other hand was brillant ... Master plan meets David Bowie is amazing .. It's got this strange vibe that tells a story in a acid trip Alice in Wonderland kind of way .. Alittle abstract but brillant ... Riverman is more commercial but alittle boring ... Over all great album tho.

I think everyone loves Oasis and then their tastes stretch off to different areas. Like for me, songs like Do the Damage and the Mexican aren't quite for me. Or at least when Oasis/Noel does them (Because I do like Queens of the Stone Age, but don't quite like the Mexican). Or for example some people love Alone on a Rope while some hate Ballad of the Mighty I. I think Oasis provided enough of a happy medium in terms of sound and genre while also sometimes straying off into different directions, pleasing some while not others.

Yeah I think Riverman is one of the worst songs on the album so you're not alone.

Was going to post something similar to the OP. X-ray eyes is better than Riverman IMO. As much as a I think Riverman is great I haven't quite understood the massive love its getting here.
I'm not quite understanding so many of the comments along the lines of "so much better than first album, 7/10"
Seems like the first album has become the safe Noel being boring now we have new material yet at the time many hailed it as a classic.
Reminds me of the hate DGSS started to get as soon as HFB came out

I agree. I like Riverman but I like Girl with the X ray eyes and Lock all the doors the most. I actually don't like The Right Stuff. And I actually wish The Dying of the light was more produced with strings and a acoustic guitar and a choir. Just my taste though.

I think it's much better when everyone likes a different song on an album compared to bands that put out and album and have one song that everyone likes and the rest of the album is pure horseshit.

Imagine how boring this place would be if we all agreed with each other. Differences in opinion stimulate interesting debate.

Also, the fact that everyone has different favourites shows how strong an album this is, with an abundance of great songs.

For me, Riverman and The Girl with X-Ray Eyes are both great tracks.. Maybe the best of the album with Lock All The Doors..
About The Dying of the Light, i actually preferer the version the old acoustic version..

Riverman is the most boring song on this album.....totally agree. Really dislike the Pink Floyd-ish guitar solos too.
