I'm amazed how this song is getting better and better after listen. I genuinely believe it's one of the best songs Noel ever wrote. This song is very underrated here. I guess time will tell. This. Should be a single. If coldplay released this, it would be a worldwide hit. For me, it is quickly rising from 9/10 to 10/10

Violet Hill which was dreadful was a Coldplay hit. Says a lot really. I love Violet Hill. Me too. It's among my favorites from Coldplay (I'm not a fan of their latest efforts but "Viva la Vida or Death etc..." was a great album)

I love this tune but today's music is dreadful. To have a worldwide hit nowdays, you should have all the package as an artist. Young + Model Appearance + Catchy tune. Very few exceptions break this rule. If this tune was released as a single in the 70's or 80's, it will definitely be a worldwide hit. But nowdays other qualities come first more than music.

A hit? Are you kidding me? Let's be serious for a moment here. Listen to the radio. While this song is awesome, it would tank. Big time.
In The Heat Of The Moment is the shittest song on the album, but the most radio friendly one. Safe, catchy, a bit boring (imo), but in The UK it reached #16. Just face it, that will be the biggest hit from this album. I'd love for Ballad Of The Mighty I to prove me wrong though.
The Dying Of The Light and You Know We Can't Go Back are more the kind of singles songs. But they will tank too (look at IIHAG). Anyway, those are safer choices than X-Ray Eyes.
What I'm trying to say is that the fact a song is amazing doesn't mean it will be a hit. It needs to be radiofriendly and consumed by the masses. And what the masses like these days..well, we all know it's not a song like this one.

And what the masses like these days..well, we all know it's not a song like this one. There are many songs of this type (very melodic, with a romantic vibe) that actually become wordlwide hits. Of course, very probably this will NOT be a hit because it will not have the massive promotion that a worldwide hit requires today. Its only chance would be featuring in a movie or ad with massive exposure, something it is very unlikely to happen. That is why I said that *if Coldplay released it*, it would be a hit, because Coldplay albums do get that kind of promotion

As I said in the review thread Girl With Xray Eyes is actually deserves way more credit than you guys are giving it. It's just gorgeously different. Truly great track and real grower. We will see how much staying power it has.

it's different and lovely but it's really not that good
in reality it may be the weakest on the album

Makes me think of this tune - Summer Rain by Johnny Rivers. 1973 - had to look it up.
Some of NG's lyrics are cringe worthy in this song tho

The Truth Is On Your Ster-eooo!!
love the feel of this track, the way the lyrics flow,i'm going through some real shit in my life at the moment with a girl, and the underlying theme of not only this track but pretty much the whole album has struck a chord with me! its like noel has written this album after being a fly on my wall! many of the lyrics on this album sum up how i'm feeling, what has been said and what has happened to me over the last few months! when i listened to the leak last saturday i could'nt beleive what i was hearing! very odd in a special way!

I am hearing Bowie all over this. Obviously the Beatles influence is there but Bowie was majorly influenced by them anyway.

While the album version is good, the demo version is superior.
