I don't think there anywhere near the quality of the b-sides to singles from DM or MG or even BHN but I love 'Sitting here in silence on my own' its taken months to grow on me but its fast becoming one of my top car tunes . Also like 'Pass me down the Wine' never really gets going but has a really hypnotic drone like quality a bit like 'Lets all make believe', which in my opinion is one of their best b-sides. I just wondered what anyone else thought.

imo Pass me down the wine is their best b-side since the MG days. I love the song, love the lyrics, love the feeling... imo it should've been somewhere on the album. I can see it now is also a fantastic song. I love it. great instrumental and it sounds like a step forward for the band as it's not typical oasis but at the same time it has that distinctive oasis sound to it

'Pass Me Down The Wine' & 'Won't Let You Down'........other than that I hate to say but it was the worst B-sides.
DBTT was awesome though so I didn't mind.
B-sides from HC were good especially 'Shout It Out Loud', 'Thank You For The Good Times' and 'You've Got A Heart Of Star'......way better than DBTT b sides.

For me the chorus on 'Pass me down the wine' lets it down because it sounds so, well beatle-esqe! not that its a bad thing, but I wish they would get away from that kind of sound. Its just too John Lennon like for me. I wish they would go for more SOTSOG sound wise not lyrically because that album without lyrics is amazing.

No way they're the worst b-sides they have ever done. 'You've got the heart of a star' is just awful, the less said about 'Thank you for the good times' the better ;D .

As a whole, all of the b sides from the last two albums were mediocre. None of them really stood out, and tend to sound like songs that were written just for the sake of having a b side to put on the single. Let's All Make Believe is still the one I could listen to over and over. Great tune!

One Way Road, Idler's Dream, Sitting Here In Silence
-> Each of the last 3 albums had a mega mega b-side
but it's true: the number of great b-sides per album has decreased.

One Way Road, Idler's Dream, Sitting Here In Silence Forgot all about 'Idlers Dream' classic although the words are bit crappy. 'One way road' just has that one bit thats great before the second verse otherwise pretty ordinary

I love "Pass Me Down The Wine". The guitar has always reminded me of the Beatles'"Things We Said Today".... But yeah, top tune that PMDTW is

It's not one of the B-sides, but I really love "Can You See It Now? (I Can See It Now!", a really great song.
Any great band has loads of great B-side songs, IMO...like "The Masterplan", "Rockin Chair" etc... for Oasis and "These Things Take Time", "Back To The Old House" etc... for The Smiths.

it's true: the number of great b-sides per album has decreased. Very true. I thought on the whole the HC B-sides were better than the DBTT ones: Just Getting Older - solid, good tune Idler's Dream - fuckin' awesome, should be longer/on the album Shout It Out Loud - great TYFTGT - good song buried under OTT production and noise Other than that the HC ones were a bit of a gyp (ANOTHER version of My Generation etc, boring). But the same applies to the DBTT ones: Eyeball Tickler - fuckin' great actually. Loved this one. Won't Let You Down - grows on me, massive Lennon theft though Pass Me Down The Wine - another grower from Liam The Quiet Ones - dogshit, waste of time (SHIS)OMO - plods along, pretty stale tune really Rock 'n' Roll Star - ANOTHER live version of this song?!?!?! So I think in comparison both sets of B-sides have some really good tunes sprinkled thorughout but are also stocked up with some pretty obvious filler. For me the HC selection edges it, for Idler's Dream if nothing else. The band put a lot less effort into B-sides now, it seems. Is a shame. It says it all that the best B-side from the DBTT era (Eyeball Tickler for me) wasn't written by Noel, and that all his B-side contributions (live versions aside) are plodders or instrumentals.

Eyeball Tickler is the only one that stands out for me. The rest i can take or leave.
Probably the weakest collection of b-sides from the last album.
