The Song Remains the Same should have been a single. Its different yet absolutely beautiful and dramatic with a drum beat that resonates well...in the heat of the moment is probably the poorest track on the album Imo

ITHOTM is the weakest song but still probably the best lead single.

I would've loved to see 'Lock all the Doors' as the lead single. But Gallagher sr not choosing the right singles is more like a rule rather than an exception so no surprises there.

But it's really 90's Oasis. Would have fit into any album they produced in the 90's. I think Noel is still making a bit of an effort to separate himself from that. Worthy of it's place on the album though. I think You Know We Can't Go Back would be a perfect single though. It's pretty immediate and energetic.

It's the Broken Arrow/Part Of The Queue of the album, absolutely superb, haunting and a bit different that the fans will adore, but it's just not a single.

More importantly I dont think Noel's prioritizing getting any hits either. Look all the Doors wouldve been a safe bet to get all the casual Oasis-fans excited, but I dont think its the tune that Noel wanted to showcase first from the album.

I would have ordered the singles like this:
1. In the Heat of the Moment 2. Lock All the Doors/Riverman 3. The Dying of the Light 4. Ballad of the Mighty I

ITHOTM is at the minute my least favourite song but the most Comercial one on there. Riverman and X-ray eyes pisses over it song wise though.

He didn't get the singles right at all. He should have had Riverman as the first single. I would have loved him to have gone The Right Stuff, too (but that wouldn't happen). I know Riverman will be a single and it is probably a single at the perfect time as it is right before the album goes on general sale.

IMHO Lock All the Doors would have killed as a #1 single.

ITHOTM - one of the poorest on the album but works as a lead single...should then have been You Know We Can't Go Back as the 2nd single and Ballad Of The Mighty I 3rd
1. In The Heat Of The Moment 2. You Know We Can't Go Back 3. The Ballad Of The Mighty I 4. The Girl With The X-Ray Eyes

A bit off topic, but will the other two bonus tracks - Freaky Teeth and ITHOTM (remix) - be b-sides to the next singles?

Had Riverman been chosen as the first single, the 5 month wait for the album would have been extremely painful. I'm glad they chose one of the 'lesser' (though still great) tracks from the album. BOTMI is a good single in my opinion.
If I were to choose the singles myself, I'd probably go for Riverman, BOTMI and either TDOTL or Lock All The Doors, not necessarily in that order. I think those would go down well with the audience.

Freaky Teeth seems likely to be one if not assuredly. If ITHOTM remix was going to be a b-side it'd have been one on that single. You also forgot the Japanese bonus track (Leave My Guitar Alone). It is possible that is left to Japan and we possibly get another song, but Im not betting on it. B-sides ITHOTM - Do the Damage Mighty I - Revolution Song 3rd single - Freaky Teeth or Leave My Guitar Alone 4th single - Freaky Teeth or Leave My Guitar Alone
