I develop narcolepsy when ever I hear his songs. Agreed. Honestly with no disrespect to Ben or his fans but I really find this type of music just to be kinda bland. I don't know maybe its because I spent my college years in Nashville, where everyone is literally a singer/songwriter but most singer/songwriter stuff these days sounds kinda faceless. Its never outright bad, just boring, and it doesn't draw in me. If you're gonna be a singer/songwriter you better have the songs and the voice to standout because there's a millions college students trying to do exactly what you're doing. This is where I really have a bunch of respect for artists like Noel, whose gift for melody is outstanding. He can do a song with just him and his guitar and make it captivating. Still though Howard has talent, he's a young artist still finding his voice.

I live in Glasgow now, and the music is much more raw and honest. But yeah, whenever I hear the likes of Ben Howard and John Mayer and then their student imitators, I'm reminded of this.....

Ah lads! Thankfully I've been sheltered from the singer/songwriter scene... so when I do dip my toes in those waters, I'm perhaps a little bit more thrilled. Even so, I think Ben Howard is more talented than Ed Sheeran... and when you look at songs like ''Keep Your Head Up" I don't know how you can't like him. Props to the guy anyway - there's a time and place for this kind of music... and I guess I'm in that spot

HA I KNEW YOU STARTED THIS THREAD.
anyway, I agree with literally everything Cast said. It's a bit boring and bland. Not bad, but it doesn't evoke any of my emotions. It does nothing to me. I think Ed Sheeran is a bit boring too, but he has some really good songs. This is a bit meh. I do like that Wolves one though.
