In AA's 2015 Guardian interview, they did push for writing new material for their project, not merely psychedelicizing written songs. "We tried to force him to write new material. But he dragged his heels and failed to stretch himself. " "Actually, all that happened was I thought he’d like to experiment with an idea we had, but after 30 minutes he was lost and angry that we weren’t telling him exactly what to do." "He did the same vocal take five times. I said: 'Imagine yourself as a voice actor.' He said: 'Don’t ever fucking talk to me about being a voice actor!' I knew it wasn’t going to be easy." www.theguardian.com/music/2015/may/07/noel-gallagher-oasis-amorphous-androgynous-too-afraid-to-be-weird?CMP=share_btn_twAs I said before, I do think the failed AA collaboration makes Noel more consciously ‘ready’ for David Holmes' new approach. Amorphous Androgynous absorbed the initial shock wave and paved the way.

Amorphous Androgynous absorbed the initial shock wave and paved the way. It sounds like AA thought Noel had already arrived at point B by himself, while Holmes sounds like he understood that Noel was at point A, and wanted to get to B, so Holmes provided the guidance the AA say Noel was angry at not getting. AA treated him like a peer who was in the same headspace, Holmes knew he needed to ease him into it.

Holmes seems to be a more down to earth character on a similar wavelength to Noel. I love Gaz, but I can just imagine Noel's face while he'd be ranting about using African nose flutes and a badger bone trombone to take a track to the next cosmic level, man. X

(For the record, I think Gaz believes in a lot of bullshit).

If Noel thinks a girl in a cape speaking French is mind blowing, imagine Gaz introducing him to his Baba backing band for the first time. "Aryan was fookin' brilliant on the record. His dhol drumming is fookin' mind blowing. Unfortunately we couldn't bring him on tour in the west though... he refuses to wear pants." X

This was not the right approach, they begun with an idea of theirs, while Holmes asked Noel to play anything, and went from there. And it made all the difference.
Holmes did not come to the studio with ideas, he merely captured Noel's to shape songs. The AA wanted Noel to fit into their vision of what the record should be. It's basically stripping the artist from his record.

X you got a point there Mossy, although i believe the AA had structures, chords progressions and general ideas of songs and sounds. Whereas Holmes just came in with that little ditty and basically said "build something around it". Maybe?...

Lots of factors contributing to the success and failure of each project. What's most interesting is Noel isn't ruling out working with them again, now he's got more comfortable with their way of working, via Holmes. X

X Yeah it was probably not the right time and not the right people. As for working with them again, what we heard from them (that If i had a gun remix) isn't too far off from what Noel did with Holmes on Fort Knox, so there would be no point. I'd rather him go in another direction.

I'd still like to see it happening. AA make some incredible music and Noel obviously knows how good they are considering how highly he spoke of them before. I doubt his opinion on their talent has changed, even if the project never worked out. That's life. It's not always someones fault, i think both need to just be on the same page at the same time. Gaz has also said he'd happily work with Noel again if he wanted to. I think there's still a mutual respect there, it just maybe wasn't the right timing. I would have still loved to hear a Death In Vegas produced Oasis album but as Noel said, they just weren't ready and didn't have the material so it didn't work. A Liam album co-written and produced by DIV would probably be great but probably not right for his career.

Death in Vegas is just Richard Fearless nowadays as Tim Holmes left quite a while ago and he’s went proper dark electro so I can’t see him writing stuff like he did on Scorpio Rising. Maybe as a producer, but again he hasn’t really done any Liam type of music for a long time.

Richard Fearless as a producer (or remixer if Liam wants to stay on the rock n roll side) would be great. The last two DIV albums were outstanding. Another idea would be Liam as a guest singer like Sasha Grey on "Transmission". Indeed a totally different direction but just WOW. soundcloud.com/drone-out/death-in-vegas-your-loft-my-acid-live

Trans-Love Energies was post Tim Holmes and that still had shades of the older stuff in places, songs like Black Hole but yeah, definitely in a darker direction. They had some very good musicians playing with them before it was just Richard Fearless on his own too though. People like Ian Button contributed a lot to their music for a while. So i guess you're right, Liam working with DIV today wouldn't really work the same without all the others involved.

m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=741774292680288&id=100005431728122Massive post from Gaz here. Bits relevant to Noel: - Noel had agreed to mix the AA HFB album after describing it as “perfect” - Several Noel tracks were configured with Rowetta from the Happy Monday’s in mind for backing vocals - Noel recorded on Crossing Over before he started on his own solo album. - Noel plays drums and bass on Crossing Over, which will be on the upcoming AA album. At the time Noel recorded on it, it was being considered for a Weller album. - The AA’s own album will be out second half of this year but “longform” singles before then

I wonder if someone could do one of those out of phase things on that video so we'd lose the narration and be able to hear that one clip a bit better? That'd be SICK
