I don't have a record player, don't have any desire to buy one. Are my days of collecting CD singles from Noel over?

I mean it doesn't really make sense anymore to release CD singles. They only contain 2 tracks, maybe 3. What a waste of space on an obsolete medium. Who needs singles when you can just cherry pick songs off iTunes? Sure that's not as romantic but the golden days are..........over.

It's a waste of CD space, but not a waste of a 7 inch. And vinyl is more personal anyway. Who cares about the case of a CD? Not many people. A vinyl case on the other hand...now that can be a piece of art. Just the right size. Good for framing. No cheapo plastic Jewel case...Vinyl takes work to appreciate and I think people like that more for collecting. CD's were only useful for portability and space saving. And like you said, digital made that obsolete.

I tend to agree with the OP. MEANSTREAK I want CD singles too! I have every single so far on CD. Yinyl is fine for collectors or if you have a player. They are not easily transferrable though & personlly I only want to buy an album once.

They're pretty much a dead format across the board. Noel isnt the only one not releasing them.

I don't think its Noels decision as such... probably more the record company.

I do like the Cd singles but I'm okay with his stopping at now (and even Beady eye stopping) because I've JUST run out of space on my OAsis singles shelf with Everybody's on the Run.

Same problem here. I was glad the High Flying Birds singles were housed in carboard sleeves. I have no clue how I'm going to manage dragging Chasing Yesterday into that shelf. Talking of first world problems...;-)

/// but why do you make it sound like Noel's a monster for depriving you of something that the entire world is almost over... Who me? I just like Noel's penchant for great b-sides! Plus they could make them for pre-order buyers only or something like that so as not to waste any money.

Sound quality is better on vinyl anyway, do yourself a favor and buy a record player. The vinyl singles are great, plus the fact they are limited releases gives more incentive to buy them. Of course it was a business decision - as mentioned before, no one buys CD's anymore.

I like CD's but I only bought the CD singles to collect.
I wish there were CD singles but I understand why they aren't feasible.

Well, I guess I'm a bit crazier than the average fan when it comes to collecting the singles. I got the first two boxes and then got more to house the singles from all the other albums.....
