One thing I love about physical albums (singles too) is being able to hold the artwork in your hands and just pore over every little detail. We've all done that, especially with Definitely Maybe! Besides Oasis, post pictures of your favourite album covers. Don't have to love to album but this is a thread to share your appreciation of great cover art. I'll start us off with 3... Neil Young - On the Beach (1974) I love the desolate feel and the colours. This is not typically what you think of when you think of going to the beach. It's a terrific album and the cover art really suits it. I'm enjoying the LP right now. George Harrison - Wonderwall Music (1968) The album is all instrumental, half indian, half odd guitar music, but all fits together really well. I bought it on the strength of the cover art, very intriguing image. And the 'Wonderwall' connection of course. Morrissey - Your Arsenal (1992) Morrissey looks absolutely "Bad ass" here, not something you can often say of him. My favourite album of his as well, followed by the new one. The 10 songs have a gritty, glam feel to them thanks to Mick Ronson.

I LOVE good covers and these are my favourites: I love Radiohead but am usually not a big fan of their artwork - this however is gorgeous and, like all the covers on this list, looks like the album sounds - colourful but not garish, luxuriously textural and simply beautiful. Coldplay on the other hand are consistently great with their art and choosing was difficult, but triumphing over the colour of MX, the grandeur of VLV, the intimacy of Parachutes and the impulse of AROBTTH is Ghost Stories with its elegant, atmospheric and intricate cover - the album can be called all these but I don't think the album is nearly as good as the cover Sigur Ros' best album also features, imo, their best artwork. I don't really know what to say about it so just look for yourself It's brilliant and strange and Sigur Ros and still isn't as good as the music... Also would include Be Here Now for it's unapologetic indulgence and A Storm in Heaven for it's dreamy, pyschadelic beauty.

The Resistance. Definitely deserved to win artwork of the year. The vinyl of Dig Out Your Soul has fantastic artwork, particularly on the inside of the gatefold and on the inner sleeves. Even the cover feels textured. Revolver. Unfortunately - thanks to Mean Mrs. Mustard - I keep expecting to see apes on the cover.

^ I love the artwork for Muse's The 2nd Law as well. That's brilliant too.
I think DOYS had the best artwork out of all Oasis albums. The artwork for the singles was cool too, especially Falling Down.

If you know there are several threads like this, why create a new one? Why not just bump an old one?

Having trouble uploading images. Any advice?
By the by, I was talking to a mate about the album cover from Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits, and I was asking why the guitar was in the sky. He said because the tunes are out of this world

The inside of the gatefold of The Wall really is a work of art. (Scroll to the right to reveal the other half)
