I havent compared the two/listened in awhile, but just putting out there, does anyone prefer the demo of columbia? white label? I prefer the white label demo. The guitar is far more interesting. I still love the album version, but the white album eclipses it for me.

I prefer the Ain't Got Nothin' demo to the DOYS version, which has pretty much no redeeming features.
The demo however is nice and raw and I can kind of see where they were originally coming from. Would have made a decent album track on DBTT instead of ABWR or KTDA I think.

Other than that, it seemed rather stupid, repetitive, and out of place. As for it being on DBTT, I think it would've been a better fit if The Meaning of Soul would've been left off. With both of those on there, it would've crowded the album with too many similar-sounding short songs to bridge certain gaps in the album.

Dunno about you guys, but I thought the "demo" of Hey Now was amazing, and somewhat better than the album version in that it was shorter and more stripped back.

The drum loop in the demo for Hindu Times still kicks ass. How was that NOT incorporated into the final version. That is a crime against Oasis fans. Shame on you Noel.

Columbia White Label demo is so much better than the album version IMO. Someone also mentioned those Noel vocal guide versions of the Be Here Now songs, I have to agree about I Hope, I Think, I Know - Noel's vocals on that version are incredible. I don't know if it was the drugs or whatever but he really sang it with passion which Liam didn't on the album. Also on the album version you can tell LG's vocals have been cut and pasted from multiple takes which makes it sound worse.
Also Stand By Me, the Noel version is pretty good with slightly alternate lyrics.

Can't believe no one's mentioned Fade Away. The demo is one of my favourite Oasis songs, the B-side version was a massive disappointment.
The demo of Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is is much better than the album version. It's rougher and has more character. If they had retained that and Noel had written a second verse it wouldn't be so hated.

In fact, on my iPod, I don't even have the studio version on it, it's just the demo version because it really is one of Oasis' best works from this time. The song itself has a real punk feel to it that also speaks a nice message to kind of soften that feel, which really is only captured with the demo. Liam's vocals are right out in front and sound great, the guitars aren't completely sloppy, and the drums sound really cool. It isn't rough and ridiculously blended together in an unpleasant rush of sound, like how TM version is. I also completely agree with the whole second verse thing on PYMWYMI. I think Noel may have wanted to make it like Morning Glory, but there just wasn't enough there to support it.

Is the demo of Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is the one with the "hey, watch out!" lines? I love that, that one was pretty sweet.

The albumversion has that too, doesn't it? yeah, muh muh muh watch out... Hey! I always thought that part made it have a "far out" effect to the song. Sadly, the lack of a second verse and brilliant solo ruined it a bit in the grand scheme of things with the song.

Personally, I never understood the appeal for The Hindu Times demo. Particularly because of this drum loops. It sounds bad to my ears.

Those drum loops from THT demo are dated as hell, sounds like something from late 80's eletronica.
The drums on Go Let It Out are what a proper drum loops should sound, it's modern til now.

I prefer Columbia (white label), Some Might Say (electric with Noel on vocals that was on the Japanese single) and the version of Live Forever with the acoustic guitar at the start. The alt. version of Waiting for the Rapture is great too. Really doesn't sound like anything Oasis would ever release. Also If I Had a Gun. I actually like the album version a lot, but I think its better with just acoustic guitar.

Liam singing Lord Don't Slow Me Down is way better IMO. I still don't get why on Earth they all went with Noel's version. It seems like something done out of pure... I don't know the exact word, but to not let Liam have that official version is just cruel.

Someone made a version with both vocals, and it's great. It should have been that way Interestingly, I've been looking for it since yesterday. What a nice little kinkydink... though the link on rkid doesn't work anymore, leading me to believe that God is definitely punishing me for some of my weirder shit by holding me from every single thing on that site that I get excited about, only to find out that the links are long gone and in the past.
