i made a little playlist today of the closing tracks from the 4 post oasis albums in order from tms to botmi, no reason just felt like it. it must have been 1st time i have listen to the morning son in a year or so. WOW. for me its the one standout track beady eye made even if it is the las looking glass remade, it suits the song so well. start anew is nice enough but i think morning son is liams finest moment. it would be great for him to write a song like that again, maybe his rough 2013 and 14 might inspire him to write some more lyrics akin to this song

Agreed, the solo (it must be a guitar but truly sounds like something out of this world) just soars and ends the album nicely. DGSS has its faults but its a decent listen and songs like this are the reason why. Just for fun, try singing Just Getting Older over the verses. Different key but you'll see some similarity

Should have ended DOYS, Soldier On is weak in comparison

This one is "saved" by the production and instrumentals. Liam again didn't really bother to finish it off. Another "lalala" chorus-prosthesis and lazy lyrics.
Leave Liam in studio with no bandmates and no producer and you'll end up with a song that's a musical equivalent of a quadruple amputee.

Just for fun, try singing Just Getting Older over the verses. Different key but you'll see some similarity Quite the understatement - playing JGO on guitar feels like you're about to start singing TMS every second. They're basically the same song, only TMS lacks JGO's middle part, has a better production and Liam's voice. Which is fine - I really like the song, more than JGO and more than Start Anew as well.

How fucking brilliant would this have been as the final track on DOYS? Especially with how things turned out. Genuinely great song from Liam.
