On first listen, Mighty I seems to be the logical successor of WAL. Same vibe, same beats, but more melodic and with a better chorus. The strings and Johnny Marr's riff at the end add something as well.
WAL was great, but BOTMI is better IMO.

I still like WAL, but BOTMI is richer, deeper, and the chorus is better. For me the relationship between both songs is similar to the relationship between TIOBI and TDOYAM: first one is good like a 1.0 version, but the second one is where everything finally clicks

Is everyone missing the guitar at the halfway mark or something? I keep seeing everyone only mentioning the bit at the end. Pretty sure that's johnny mart on the ground in the street, who Noel picks up the guitar from. It's playing around then in the video.

Still a bit early to get a sensible idea on which song people like the most, but after a few listens I already seem to like BOTMI more. It feels more finished, there are a lot of things happening in the background (and the instantly recognizable guitar sound of Johnny Marr is one of them), lyrics are great (on WAL, erm... they were not!).

Mighty I is like WAL's evolution,it's too early to judge as I could be tired of it in a week or something, but right now I'd go with Mighty I

I always liked the vibe of 'What A Life' but other than that it's not interesting enough for me and lacks atmosphere.
'Ballad Of The Mighty I' has the same vibe plus great atmosphere and melody. Have to say I also prefer the lyrics. Much stronger compared to 'What A Life' if you ask me.

The Ballad of Mighty I is What A Life Evolved. Much more meat to its bones I think.
What A Life is what it is - a fun pop tune, fairly lightweight as a result but does exactly what it says on the tin.
I'm going to sound like Noel here, but Ballad is What A Life's more interesting but cynical and sinister older brother.
It's fabulous, and the best Gallagher album closer since Champagne Supernova. Granted, not much comes close to that song, but the albums that followed, I think this song easily trumps them all.

I listened to it the first time right now and I think I feel like the people, that said, that "Flick of the finger" needs something. For me "Flick of the finger" was perfect, and in that way I understand way you will love "Ballad of mighty I", but for me this is one really dull song.
Don`t know. I really like "In the heat of the moment" and "Do the Damage", but this one just lacks energy for me. And I really don`t like the guitar sound on it. Call me picky ore something else, but that is just my opinion. And I believe that I will enjoy "Chasing yesterday", but this song was a disappointment for me. So my vote goes to "What a life", which in my ears sounds more lifely and energetic.

Tough call... Im going for Ballad Of The Mighty I because its freakin fresh and I been loving it...I really love What A Life, but I also feel like BOTMI its sorta of an evolution from it, just as some of you were saying.... Only time will tell if it stands as great as What a Life, but so far so good IMO

Absolutely without a doubt, Mighty I.
Love What A Life, but it's just not dynamic enough compared to Mighty I.

I think some of you are getting a little bit carried away.
Ballad Of The Mighty I is decent enough, but at best it's the less inspired, less memorable, inferior sequel to Aka... What A Life.

I voted for What A Life for now. That could change in time. The Mighty I is just so new for me to put it above a tune I've absolutely since it came out in 2011. Both tunes are the style I want Noel Gallagher to live in for awhile. Both a modern and fresh. It doesn't sound like Oasis which I love.

I loved WAL after that first one minute clip and continue to really like it.
Comparing how I feel about TBOTMI now to how I did about WAL when it first came out I definitely prefer WAL.
I really like the bass, Marr's guitar and the outro so Mighty I might grow on me more but there're a couple of bits where the song goes "down" when I'm expecting it to go "up" e.g. 33s to 41s (maybe someone with better music training can explain what I mean there!) and I still need to get used to that, I find it really jarring.

Although I'm a fan of What A Life's, its peak moments don't nearly match Ballad, for me personally. For me, it has that epic feel to it - I think the instrumentation is perfect, and it is neither over produced or under produced. For me, Noel's best single along with Everybody's on the Run.

I chose What A Life for now. Ballad of the Mighty I has a richer sound texture and a nicer atmosphere in general, but I feel like WAL is more memorable and enjoyable to listen to.

Neither of these songs are particularly great IMO. At the end of the day though, I believe WAL is way more memorable compared to Mighty Thighs.
