So, after decades of only listening and ripping off artist from 60s , he is now into disco. I guess album number 3 will be acid house or rap. Than grunge maybe on number 4. WAL was his big aciiid house choon. Where did this big disco influence suddenly come from? I don't recall him ever mentioning it before this album (or the AA album anyway). Can't help but think that since WAL was a hit he thought my next singles must have a four in the floor beat! Let's hope that not the whole album will be like this. These songs are alright but I'm not a huge disco fan and these are not the kind of songs that made me a fan.

Pretty sure he said two songs were disco influenced and that they've been the first two singles. The rest of the album should be disco free, fret not.

He frequented the Hacienda very often during his youth in Manchester, and considering Madchester took many similar influences too, its no surprise to find Noel doing this. The only surprise really is that it took him this long.

Everything you said above is true of house, yes, but not disco. indeed, Columbia features the lyric "It's not quite acid house" low in the mix. House evolved from disco but they are different genres and not interchangeable. Noel got into house in the 80s but feel free to point me to an old interview where he professes his love of the earlier disco, cos I've only heard that recently.

Maybe I'm not reading it correctly or have missed something (if I am, then sorry) but aren't you answering your own question (i.e. If that's all you've heard lately, why do I need to point you to an interview???).

That question was aimed more at matt and you're misreading it I think. Matt says Noels "love of some disco/house influence" is well known. I'm saying his love of *house* is well known, but not disco. They are different genres. I've only heard him mention disco in interviews since the AA album, that is in the last couple of years. If either of you have an old interview where he mentions disco I'm happy to be corrected...

I never thought I'd see the day where a Noel Gallagher-penned tune would have a driving bassline to it (except GLIO), instead of regular ol' guitars. I'm excited for it, it sounds a bit disco, the drums are dance-infused, like how ITHOTM is, and the best thing of all, is that it's a fresh sound for him.

No, I agree with you, I've never heard anything mentioned about disco before... just thought I'd point out 2 acid house inspired tracks.

Hopefully Noel will embrace his inner Sgt. Pepper John Lennon and rock these pants........................ 8. Given his new found love of disco I think he's building up to this...

Sounds like What A Life done right. Couldn't care less about orange trousers as long as he doesn't start wearing leopard skin loafers and gets a women's haircut.

Sounds like the very start of the song or at least when the lyrics begin.

Sorry for the confusion, disco is a bit of a generic and ambiguous term I use - one which covers acid house, dance, electronica etc. I don't mean it in the strict sense of Bee Gees' Saturday Night Fever, more of an umbrella term.... just kind of what music would be played in the clubs back in the late 80s/90s. Anyway, easy to see the tune as disco perhaps. Acid house + Noel's pop sensibilities = disco?

So, now we have 15 seconds of music, I mean, 15 seconds of drums, bass and Noel's vocals. What is better? Sounds bigger than AKA... What a Life!, and I even don't think this going to sound like a dance song. I felt a lot of 80's, but in a way of reconstruction or something like this...
CAN'T FUCKING WAIT.
