It seems that it's conventional knowledge on here that most of CY's tracks have guitar solos. Now, was this just speculation that has now been believed and taken a life of its own, or is this actually factual? Can someone please show me where Noel says there's a lot of guitar solos on this album, because I'm doubting he did.
The last thing we need on this forum, is all hell breaking out when we hear the album and there's no guitar solos on it, after believing a fucking rumor that there were solos.

He said 9 out of 10 have guitar solos. In the Steve Lamacq interview from last December.

I really hope there are great guitar solos in this record. Noel's been very lazy with his guitar lately. ITHOTM needed more guitar. I miss Gem and his great skill. Probably I'm just biased as I love Noel's guitar style in Oasis and play lead in an Oasis tribute LOL.

I really hope there are great guitar solos in this record. Noel's been very lazy with his guitar lately. ITHOTM needed more guitar. I miss Gem and his great skill. Probably I'm just biased as I love Noel's guitar style in Oasis and play lead in an Oasis tribute LOL. I like Gem but I don't think he contributed much writing solos... I mean, his own Oasis' songs barely had solos (TBWTL,ABWR) and when he performed Noel's solos he would pretty much stick to the studio versions... Although I do love what he does in Masterplan.... |

Are we sure he's doing a solo? R u saying he could play the cow bell? No, I'm saying he might be playing rhythm parts. Didn't Noel say he left blank spaces on purpose, for Marr to 'fill the blanks'? To me that sounds like What A Life-ish guitar fills. I haven't heard any mention about Marr specifically playing a solo. |

To me that sounds like What A Life-ish guitar fills. I haven't heard any mention about Marr specifically playing a solo. Oh sorry, I really thought you were being sarcastic... Well, that doesn't make much sense to me and it really sounds like a misuse of Marr's talents... I mean when was the last time you said "hey, that rythm guitar is insane!!!" And it seems to me that What A Life end up with that really poor guitar part simply because they couldn't fit Marr to do it... I mean, even during the tour Noel made up a few notes at least a bit more interesting.... |
