local station here in boston doing a year-end top 1,000 countdown: wzlx.cbslocal.com/tag/1k-countdown/now,, i know these sort of things are meant to be fun, somewhat silly and are totally subjective, but right away this sticks out to me like a sore thumb: 987. Rolling Stones – Midnight Rambler #987, really? (and since this is a boston station, obviously there will be more aerosmith, boston, etc. etc. than there should be , but anyway.... ) feel free to chew on and discuss! happy new year to everyone on the forum

....and NOTHING at all from the beatles (or solo beatle members) to be found in the top 100. i find that absolutely positively unforgivable.

Seems like that was the only one they actually got right. Is there any Oasis in there at all? Unfortunately I've grown accustomed to the Gallagher's being totally overlooked in this kind of thing

We have a top2000 with "the best music ever made" but it's so lame now. The public can vote and now there's shite like Katy Perry, One Direction and Gangnam Style in it.
Oasis is in it too though. DLBIA was 390 and Wonderwall 164 or something. Which is pretty good.

Bad list to put U2 on top 10. Boston is as IRISH a city as thete is in United states. U2 will do very well it's a vote by fans of area. So U2 AEROSMITH will chart well.

Lunacy... golden slumbers, a day in the life, imagine, instant karma, band on the run, revolution, helter skelter, sgt. peppers/walhfmf ^ any of those could easily have been in the top 20 ffs.

Yeah you're right. The same happen with Oasis I think in UK they chart well on top 10 greatest.Did they? They always do well, in Q and NME polls in UK right at or near top , but now with a new generation I don't know what a fan vote would bring in UK there taste has changed since my heyday

Born to Run -102 Foo Fighters – Learn To Fly-37 you know something, as much as i like the foo fighters and that song, i would have to agree with you. born to run should have been in the top 20.

I must say that a quarter of the top 50 is quite questionable. Happy to see Under the Bridge be at #64 on the list, but it's a borderline travesty to see The Beatles omitted from the top 100, and many songs that could've been in the top 100 be between 300-500. It's a shame, but none of these lists ever get it completely right, it seems.

Born to Run -102 Foo Fighters – Learn To Fly-37 That is sacrilege. The popularity of Foo Fighters remains one of the great mysteries of the universe.
