I'm a bit surprised Lou Reed hasn't been inducted already for his solo work. Better late than never, I guess. (The Smiths will get in soon, I'm sure.)

In order to be eligible it needs to be 25 years after your debut album was released. So Oasis will be eligible in 2019. |

In all honesty the R&R HOF is a weird concept. Despite the title, Genre is basically irrelevant, seeing as Madonna and Aretha Franklin are in it. |

Said this when they first start putting in soul , r&b , jazz musicians , now rap as well. It's more a " Usa music entertainment hall of fame" imo ......it's not Rock & roll ....... Aretha , miles DAVIS , some blue grass bands , rap , all have stand out performers ,, but nothing to do with what most people call rock and roll ....... name is for recognition factor |

This whole R&RHOF doesn't make sense to me. Rock=rock. Soul, rap etc. do not belong there imo. They should have made a different Hall Of Fame for that if they wanted to include those genres.

i suppose it's nice when one of your favorites gets inducted but at the end of the day the rock 'n' roll hall of fame is nothing but a god damn sham.

I could not disagree more vehemently , why I love the UK so much The smiths piss on green day on the smiths worst day , NEVERMIND at there best ....it's why I keep telling people here who think Oasis will make hall there nuts ..not in America even with songpop recognizing them in America there not big hence they must not be big "worldwide ". some call it american arrogance ..I call it stupidity and they have no taste in good music ( present american company excluded of course ) |

While it's bad The Smiths missed out, i see no problem with Green Day going in. Sure you could argue it's too "early", but then again overrated 2 album wonder Nirvana are already in there.
