I've got no idea, just not sure The Dying of the Light will have a solo and given how he's made a point of talking about how many solos are on it he could just be exaggerating.

i attribute the gradual lack of guitar solos and resurgence to both the backlash from Be Here Now having very cliche guitar solos and the criticism of the album, as well as guitar solos becoming unfashionable from around 2003-2007. i just feel like indie bands that took over during that period made a point not to do wayne's worldy guitar solos that were popular in 90's alternative rock.

9 solos seems a bit much. I suppose it's better than just 2 though. Then again, guitar solos really don't matter all that much to me. If they're good solos, then I appreciate them. I don't think they're a necessary piece to make a good rock song and so I don't think they should be forced into a song.

the stand out guitar solos (that noel plays the lead), the turning and record machine are pretty great fucking guitar solos though. definitely make up for the lack of on previous albums. I also dig the importance of being idle's solo. feel like the solos were fewer but more interesting. Shout It Out Loud!

Now this is the most exciting news that I've heard with regard to the album. A really promising sign. I've really missed solo's in Noel's music. I love TT's solo but its so short. I'd say the last truly great guitar solo that was on a Gallagher song was on TIOBI. Gas Panic has a superb solo as well. Having Strangeboy playing lead on at least some of this album is really exciting. He is probably the most underrated aspect of SOTSOG. He is the unsung hero on that album. His work on FITB is one of the band's ultimate highlights. Excellent tone and playing. Just rips thru the speakers. He is also a very diverse player. His solo on Roll it Over is tasteful and dignified. With Noel (hopefully) stretching his musical muscles it will be good to have superbly talented guy like Stacey around. The Stacey Brothers really are a great asset to Noel - past and present.

Noel may have confused some of the bonus tracks as being on the album when he stated this. (He got the track order of HFB wrong in interviews too).
