And one epic one to kickoff the album..... the excitement is real. One of the things that lacked in his debut record imo is the lack of guitar solos. I believe there was only 1.

Record Machine and STC. The lack of guitar solos was one of the biggest problems with the 2000's Oasis. Can count them on one hand after SOTSOG.

the stand out guitar solos (that noel plays the lead), the turning and record machine are pretty great fucking guitar solos though. definitely make up for the lack of on previous albums. I also dig the importance of being idle's solo. feel like the solos were fewer but more interesting.

Source? If it is I'm thrilled As for the RM and STC solos I did not like the album versions, the ones on the demoes are so much better. Too much noise! Difficult to hear the guitar in all of it imo.

I would say Gas Panic would be Noel's finest of the later years, it is in my top 5 with Live Forever being numero uno.

Noel panicked after BHN, and pretty much did away with the guitar solo after the backlash of that album.

Noel panicked after BHN, and pretty much did away with the guitar solo after the backlash of that album. Thing is, for all its flaws, a lot of those guitar solos on that album are gloriously over the top - the solo in It's Gettin Better Man makes me smile every time. It's ridiculous, it's over the top, whatever, I love it! It is so reckless at times but that recklessness adds real adrenaline to the tracks. For all Oasis's shortcomings after the glory years, guitar solos were not one of them in my opinion.

Particularly in a time when every band since Be Here Now is so careful and tip toe around their songs to make it perfect, it's refreshing to hear a band just let their self-conscience evaporate and just go for it. Oasis were basically punks - they didn't follow specific rules on how to play music, it was all about translating the sheer energy into music at any cost.

Noel panicked after BHN, and pretty much did away with the guitar solo after the backlash of that album. "Giants" had a guitar solo in almost every song so that statement is not true.

I always thought it was either Noel or Gem. eyeballtickler yeah that's what he insinuates I guess. I'm curious what the solo in The Dying Of The Light will sound like then..

Andy did the finger picking bit at the end of the Turning, from what I can remember. I think it was said so on the Dig Out Your Soul DVD.

Now this is the most exciting news that I've heard with regard to the album. A really promising sign. I've really missed solo's in Noel's music. I love TT's solo but its so short. I'd say the last truly great guitar solo that was on a Gallagher song was on TIOBI. Gas Panic has a superb solo as well.
Having Strangeboy playing lead on at least some of this album is really exciting. He is probably the most underrated aspect of SOTSOG. He is the unsung hero on that album. His work on FITB is one of the band's ultimate highlights. Excellent tone and playing. Just rips thru the speakers. He is also a very diverse player. His solo on Roll it Over is tasteful and dignified. With Noel (hopefully) stretching his musical muscles it will be good to have superbly talented guy like Stacey around.

Does that mean all album tracks except ITHOTM has a guitar solo? I was thinking that he might include the riff in the 2nd verse of ITHOTM as a solo. It's not, but worth pointing out.

So would he count the guitar bits in WAL! as solos as well? That would make us none the wiser.
