Ryan Adams - Cold RosesThis is an par with Heartbreaker as far as I'm concerned. Ryan at the height of his game and it is a diverse set of songs. 100% Agree, Glad someone else listed this

Not all necessarily underrated, more under-appreciated/unloved...
Guns N' Roses - Chinese Democracy Really not the awful record some make it to be. A very consistent album of great songs, more so than arguably any of their previous releases. Contains some absolute killer guitar lines that Slash could only dream about. Not quite a classic, but a very good and very underrated album non the less. Pixies - Trompe Le Monde For whatever reason it isn't held in the same light as previous Pixies releases 'Surfer Rosa' and 'Doolittle' despite being equally as great. 'Alec Eiffel', 'Planet Of Sound', 'U-Mass', 'Subbacultcha', 'Bird Dream Of Olympus Mons', 'The Sad Punk', 'Trompe Le Monde', 'Head On' and 'Letter To Memphis' are all 4/5-5 star songs to me. That many amazing songs make this an absolute classic, surely? Mclusky - Mclusky Do Dallas Never really got why Mclusky never took off, but I highly recommend this album, an absolute favourite of mine. Like a more punky, witty, catchy Shellac and with Steve Albini on production, you know it's gonna sound good. Some of the best lyrics ever, contained within. The follow up and unfortunately final album is almost as good and sound-wise is even better.
I won't preach 'SOTSOG' & 'Dig Out Your Soul' to you all but I also voice my support for them. Nearly brilliant the pair of them.

I'd throw Curt Smith, the underrated member of Tears For Fears' solo album up

Another one for me is. Ride's second album Going Blank Again. Nowhere is a classic, but their second album has two of their top five songs for me: Leave Them All Behind and Twisterella. Overall Going Blank Again isn't a classic like Nowhere but it is a great album. Some really good songs on there. The Stone Roses really are underrated outside the US. Their debut is perfect and honestly Second Coming isn't that horrible. Matter fact I'll actually put it on here. Second Coming is bloated and really lacks the classic magic of their debut and early singles/b sides but it has some really great songs on there. It's kinda like the precursor to BNH in some ways. Still as imperfect as the Second Coming is and given how long it came to come out its still a decent album. I'd probably rate in the range of a 6.5-7.5/10. It's not a great album but its good. If you like the Roses it has some of their best songs, but don't expect another classic. Disappointing maybe but not terrible. Straight to the Man, Love Spreads are really great Roses songs. Plus I think Daybreak, Breaking Into Heaven, How Do You Sleep, Tears, Begging You, Ten Storey Love Song, and some of the others are worth your time if your a Roses fan. I think if people listen to the album with open ears they might find that they really like those songs. The Roses are just such a great band. Their melodic leads with their bouncy and vibing rhythm section was really unique. Reni and Mani are some of the best and most unique players ever. John is doing his best Page impression but still the guitar work on most of second coming is excellent. I've been listening to Second Coming a lot lately - musically amazing and a nice jam album, lyrically a little lacking. God bless.

Mostly agree with Second Coming, although I can't stand Straight to the Man, Daybreak or Begging You...still Tightrope - Good Times - Tears - How Do You Sleep - Love Spreads in direct succession is as brillant as it gets. First three tracks I love as well.

Is that I thought that Blur was recognised as a great album with some of Blur's best songs, didn't know it was underrated.

I would say pretty much any Supergrass, first couple of BRMC records are very underrated.
On a Beatle scale Revolver doesn't get the hype that its other records do.

Been a massive Arctic Monkeys fan, Suck it and See and Humbug don't get anywhere near the love they deserve. Everyone seemed to jump back on with AM. But those two albums are great albums. The B-sides to Humbug singles are some of the best B-sides ever.
The Sleepy Jackson- Lovers. a cracking mixture of Country, 60's pop, dance and Indie from the guy that bought you Empire of the Sun. This is still his masterwork and Good Lovers is one of the best singles of the 00's.
The Go Betweens- 16 lovers lane, I could say all their albums but this is still their best work. Some beautiful songs.
New Radicals - Maybe you've been brainwashed too, one of the most underrated pop albums of the late 90's/early 2000's plus the only album from the band (well from the main man Gregg Alexander) probably more known for the one hit wonder You Get What you Give but their are far better songs on the album.
World Party- Goodbye Jumbo Former Waterboy Karl Wallinger masterpiece, a mixture of Beatles, Stones, Dylan and Prince that doesn't dip at any point. His following albums had some good moments but this is really his high point.
Teenage Fanclub- Grand Prix brilliant stuff should have made them stars but sadly didn't. Just full of wonderful tunes from first minute to the last.

^Read about New Radicals on this forum a few years back and was stunned. Very close to being the perfect pop album (and the perfect opener).
Teenage Fanclub are great as well, but they seem to get little recognition nowadays.

I agree about Arctic Monkeys, but more so Suck It And See than Humbug, not because I don't like Humbug (it's my favourite of theirs) but I've seen quite a lot of people say it's their best album, albeit still a lot less than people who say WPSIATWIN or AM are their best. You never see anyone say Suck It And See's their best even though it's a really great album.

It's only the last couple of years I've come to really rate this album. I thought the whole lo-fi thing was a bit derivative of the American bands of that era like Pavement, but it's a bit narrow minded of me to think like that after considering that Damon's songwriting is as good as it ever was, arguably at its peak, definitely when you consider it's much more personal than the previous Blur albums.

The Stone Roses - Second Coming Never got the massive shit it got from everyone to be honest. They were never going to top that Debut album even their b-sides were world class. At least with Oasis, they decided to go all out and write a second album that was going to set Radios alight with ballads and commercial rock songs. The Roses went all Led Zep , I love Second Coming but it's a step down from their debut and could have done with some editing. But it's not a disaster as many would have you believe. If it was released in 91 or 92 I doubt it would have got that much hate. it was the fact they waited so long to release it.

Some of Alex Turner's best writing is on it, it's a real upbeat album too and it's their summery indie album. Humbug will always be many die hard fans favourite cause it's the arty album with the best b-sides they written and its got a bad rep outside the fanbase so many will defend it. SIAS is my second favourite AM album after AM.

Fabrizio De Andrè. In Italy he's a legend but he's not famous outside Italy because of the language, and it's a shame.
Piero's war.
You sleep buried in a wheat field it's not the rose, it's not the tulip watching on you from the shadow of ditches but it's a thousand red poppies. I want the silver pikes to swim downhill, not the soldiers' bodies cradled by the stream.
And while you marched with soul on your shoulders You saw a man on the valley floor Who was in the same your mood But had a uniform of another color
Shoot him, Piero, shoot him now and after a shot, shoot him again until you see him lifeless fall down and cover his own blood And if you shoot on his forehead or on his heart he'll have only time to die but I'll have time left to see see the eyes of a dying man
Yes, in english is not that good, obviously.
It's a shame that Italian music it's not so popular outside. We've a lot of shit artists but Fabrizio De André is an absolute genius.
