I think he could easily play in front of 40,000 people at Finsbury Park or Heaton Park after 800/900k copies sold and two silver singles. Also, he already sold 77k (more or less) tickets in the UK.
With right prices and good promotions he could play there, and it would be great with a DVD of the gig.
Maybe he doesn't like this idea

Finsubury Park sounds cool.
Heaton Park I don't know. It's quite big. Maybe LCCC (40,000 - 50,000) in Manchester.

He could play in front of 40,000 people. With tickets at £50 he could easily do it, i'm pretty sure about that. He already sold almost 80k tickets in the UK with high high prices.

I've never heard of the Courteeners so Noel could probably do it.

Their situation is quite strange, they're like the biggest band ever in Manchester, big in the rest of northern England, just anormal indie band in Southern England and nearly unknown in the rest of the world

Without meaning to turn this into a Courteeners thread but there not just a 'nothern band', every tour they sell out Brixton and Birmingham Acadamy for example. Their problem is Radio 1 and the like(With the exception of XFM) dont play them thats why they are underground so to speak.
Back to Noel, yes he could easilly sell out Finsbury or Heaton Park etc but would his act work well to a massive crowd? Unlikely. Ed Sheeran at Wembley must be odd too, acoustic guitars and a massive crowd dont work well for a full gig. Best to stick to the Arena's IMO.

Don't know, I don't live there but Oasis, The Smiths, The Stone Roses and Joy Division were quite bigger.. Agree with frogerz. That could be a problem. But he's releasing a "electric album", maybe because now he knows that he will play in big venues

Back to Noel:
He sold a lot of copies with HFB1 and 400k combined with WAL and TDOYAM. He already sold 80k tickets in the UK with crazy prices.
So, with a good support (Johnny Marr? Paul Weller? Royal Blood?), right prices (£45/50) and a good promotion he could play at Finsbury Park or Heaton Park. With 30 or 40,000 people.
Maybe not next spring, but in May/June 2016 and then release a DVD.
The problem is: #1: Noel wants to do it? #2: Don't know if HFB1 would sound great in a Park. He's releasing an "electric album", though.

I saw Ed Sheeran on a festival this year performing for 50,000 people and it was indeed a bit weird. It worked though, people had fun.

Of course Noel would love to do it - he always talks of his admiration for bands wanting to be the biggest act in the world and going out and taking that chance.
Noel's got no time for acts who are stuffy and pretentious about how they don't want to play stadiums (yeah right!) so would snap up the opportunity to play the biggest venue possible.

^I think he started like that with HFB, saying he preferred smaller venues for a start, but I guess that was mostly caution as he was back to bigger crowds within months.

I don't think Noel's opinions has much to do with what gigs that are booked. I believe that he has said it himself that his management takes care of all that stuff, he has nothing to do with it and don't know where and when he'll play before they tell him. So the question of what kind of gigs that Noel is likely to play, will be a decision taken by his management based on how many people that are likely to be interested in buying a ticket, potential expences for arranging and promoting the gigs, potential money earned on playing the gigs, and promotional value.

Noel's got a couple of tunes he's tried out successfully on stadium crowds. You might've forgotten but he was in a fairly successful band called Oasis ;-)

Noel's got a couple of tunes he's tried out successfully on stadium crowds. You might've forgotten but he was in a fairly successful band called Oasis ;-) True. But he said that you can't play The Death of you and me in a stadium. When he was in Oasis he used to write songs for stadiums. Now he's enjoying his "freedom". Check out,5:30 If he's releasing an "electric Album" he could play in a Park. But playing only 3/4 song from the first album

he didnt even play TDOYAM on the mastertapes thing and it was the first single of the album so he could easily put it to bed for the big gigs.
I always felt it was the only song that didn't fit when playing festivals
but what a perfect song anyway.
