It's not the first time that bands are announced for this festival through big ads throughout the city.
I'm straining myself from shouting and jumping around in the office...

Now THIS is where Andy Bell shines - Nowhere is one of the best albums of the 90s, this is fantastic news.

Both bands were shit overall. Ride had a couple decent tunes, that's about it.

Nowhere is really one of the best albums of the 90's. Every song on it just hits you. As far as I'm concerned Loveless and Nowhere are the two essential shoegaze albums. There's other good ones but those two are must haves. Both are nearly perfect records that sum of the ethos of shoegaze. Going Blank Again is pretty good as well. The first two tracks on it are two of their best.
Andy never really impressed me with his guitar work in Oasis/Beady Eye. TUTS has some nice bits but his work in (early) Ride is really great. Chimey, twisted, loud, and melodic.

Listen to Sonic Youth's Goo album.Example track. BTW to the non-sonic youth fans, I do suggest Goo added to anyone's library on this forum. Happy to see Andy together with Ride and I hope to see success.

Ride are on 6 Music from 9am. May get some information from Andy in regards to Beady Eye.
Ask a question to the band via Facebook.

True Rain Ride and Sonic Youth do share some similarities. I think of Ride as more of a Shoegaze band the guitars reverb, loud, delay, chimming, twisted) where as Sonic Youth is a bit more of a noise rock band (distortion, fuzz, hard hitting). I guess a metaphor for what I'm trying to say is I feel like Ride and Sonic Youth use the same brush strokes, or guitar techniques but they use different textures/colors (guitar effects).

Andy Bell is like "Even Steven". - Loses Ride, joins Hurricane #1. - Loses Hurricane #1, joins Oasis. - Loses Oasis, joins Beady Eye. - Loses Beady Eye, joins Ride.

This must be the reason why BE split. In the interivew and he said that this was gonna happen as this was going to be BDI down time, then go back to BDI stuff after. Whether that created internal conflict? Andy and Liam are close tho so you'd think not but..
