There was another bad performance of Lyla on a French show if I remember rightly. There's nothing left to say about his voice that hasn't already been said but I still find it a fascinating topic. Yeah, I remember this one. It's on a French show called "Taratata". I couldn't find it on Youtube but you can find it on Taratata's website - there it is: www.mytaratata.com/emission/taratata-n176/video/2928/oasis-lyla-2005Weirdly, they played My Generation on the same show and it doesn't sound too bad. It's probably the worst performance I've heard from Liam, but it's a bit weird, sometimes it's like he yells like if he couldn't hear himself sing. Fortunately, His last two tours with Beady Eye and his recent performance of My Generation were much much better. I hope we'll hear more from Liam soon .

Leak4ever, everyone gets it. You hate Liam. But now you're just repeating yourself over and over. What's the point? Don't you get bored of yourself? This thread is specifically about Liam's vocals. Is anything I said untrue? He's a singer that can't sing. This isn't even debatable.

Liam's voice problems = Bad tecnhique(Bad posture, bad control of breathing, singing out of his vocal range, etc.) + overuse + lifestyle. The truth is that Liam has never been a good singer; He has some kind of Punk vocal style when He sings live, that worked when He had potent and young vocal cords; that is the very same reason that we barely got live versions of Listen Up, My Big Mouth or Rockin' Chair; because they're too high for Liam to sing. Here's Liam in the golden era of his voice, butchering the vocals of songs like Listen Up and Rockin´Chair, imo. The first one is a touch unfair. Great gig though it is, Liam seems to be struggling from the start. I thought he actually complained about it during the set. A better one is the Jones Beach one which is a year or so later I think. I like the Rockin' Chair performance. So your defence of Liam sounding horrid on Listen Up is...that he sounded horrid during the whole show. Right, that makes sense.

If I'm saying its not a good example of him singing Listen Up live because he was struggling that night from being ill or having toured to much or whatever then yes it does make sense. Its why I suggested watching the Jones Beach version of this song which is a year later but he sounds better. I bet you didn't watch it though. I might have missed it but could I ask what your point was?

"There was a nice young yokel who had a nice vocal. When he was good, he was very, very good, but when he was bad, he was horrid." He's usually at his best when a tour starts out; I saw the the second night of the DOYS tour and he was incredible--lightyears better than he was at the end of the DBTT tour. He should stop smoking, drink hot tea with honey and no alcohol, and go straight to bed after each show--instead of partying all night like a wild man. Of course, Liam is Liam and he is ALWAYS going to party all night like a wild man. It's too bad he can't leave his larynx back at the hotel to rest while the rest of him is out having it large.

In my opinion I think his problems may be due to not warming up his voice properly, and forcing it to reach some notes that end up hurting his performance.

Columbia played at Jon Brookes event his voice doesn't do the song justice. Even in 2002 there's so much power to his voice, albeit alot more course sounding than the early days. This live performance just sounds almost winey (more so than nasally!)

I feel really sorry for singers like Liam, and indeed Paul McCartney who both sounded absolutely belting in their heyday. I once asked a lass I know who's a singing teacher what she thought the cause of their problems were. Basically, as the previous comments have mentioned below, it has much to do with bad posture. Don't forget how many times back in the 90's Liam had to leave the singing to Noel as he was always getting sore throats, probably do to his smoking and late nights. She said that McCartney had probably lost the top end of his range due to age, smoking in his younger years and still trying to sing in the same keys he did when he was 21. Apparently Tom Jones started having singing lessons back in the 70's which is probably why he can still belt out a tune like he could 20 years ago.

McCartney still sounds pretty good sometimes. I recently saw a video where he was belting out Helter Skelter and it was pretty amazing. Oh and McCartney is 72. Liam is 42. And Liam has been sounding like shit for at least 10 years now.

I saw BDI live last february in Milan and he was good. They played in a very small venue (400/500 people?) though. He was good enough, check out
In my opinion since november 2013 he's good, not great, but certainly good. Ibiza Rock Festival 2013 was one of his worst performances all time. It was the day after the love child thing, though.

I still like the Ibiza gig. Liam anger or whatever it was gave the performance the edge
