Missed the first 15 minutes last night, thought it started at 8 but no it was 7 after my mate phoned me wondering where I was.
That said, they played a good hour more and the new songs sound great acoustically. Also got a special EP too, nice guys as well, so well worth it!

Was it only Andy and James, right? Elias (forum member/L4E E-zine editor) mentioned on the E-zine that James was very modest when he interviewed him a while ago. I said it before, but I keep saying, what a brilliant band is that.

Yep, just the pair of them, they were really engaged fellas, knew their audience well and they actually listened to what you had to say, that's no surprise considering they music which is right for us and themselves, rather than aiming for stardom.

Great to hear that, matt! I have 3 setlists of their gigs I've been to and all of them were handwrtten even after 3 albums. I don't want them to be huge, as long as they keep creating great music just like what they've been doing, I'm more than happy.

I don't want them to be huge, as long as they keep creating great music just like what they've been doing, I'm more than happy. Yeah, I want them to be moderately popular so they don't give up, but not on a huge scale as that often prompts bands to limit their songwriting by going for the big stadium chorus. Songwriting should never be contrived to fit an environment (which Oasis tried to do at the end, along with Coldplay today) because then you lose the true honest nature of the art. And big melodic overblown choruses would never fit The Sad - they are melodic but in a brooding and dark manner which lingers long in the memory and stays with you. A bit like The Smiths in that respect, similar to songs like I Know It's Over, Suffer Little Children or Asleep. These songs are not meant to sweep you off your feet, but sit you down and make you contemplate your inner emotions and the world around you. You lose that subtlety once you actively try to reach the heights of stardom.

This one is from their new AA side single with "It Never Was The Same" which will be out on 15th June. I'm going to pre-order it now. Also Here's Sad's cover of "I Love The Living You" at this year's SXSW. A great great band. I can never get enough of listening to them.

Makes a change from the usual top spots held by Noel! If there's one band I tell my mates to check out, its the Sad. Pleased to say I've got a couple of folk converted!

Just properly getting into these, fantastic group! Love them! They are so great, do you have a favourite album yet? Nobody Wants to Be Here and Nobody Wants to Leave is the only one I've really gotten to know so I'd have to say that, although Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters has some amazing songs too. Just skirting on the surface of the other two.

The Escapist, you'll love it. Sads covering Half A Person by The Smiths. This EP which also including their cover of Joy Division and The Wedding Presents, were only sold at their gigs back in 2008 - 2009. You might be able to purchase it via their official website now. Some songs from their second album were on this EP as "untitled". Great, great band!
