I'm a fan of Liam and Noel equally. But I sort of relate to Noel more now (when I was younger it was Liam).
I actually really like BDI. Love NGHFB. Anyway, for all the fans, especially those that lean towards the side that they love Noel and aren't into BDI....If there is one BDI song that Noel would have been proud to have written (or wish he wrote), which do you think it would be?

Noel' songwriting style is so vastly different to Beady Eye's, especially as of late, that it's really hard to see him pen any of their songs.
I could imagine him trying to write something like off at the next exit or ballroom figured (both very good songs) in the early 2000s when he was going through that querky-simplistic-love song phase and writing drivel like she is love and let there be love.

Soul Love. Simple yet beautiful tune. Or maybe Evil Eye.

The Roller, Soon Come Tomorrow, Second Bite of the Apple (instrumentation-wise), and Flick of a Finger.

The Beat Goes OnFlick of The Finger and Girls In Uniform I seriously doubt Noel would be "proud" to have written those since he rejected them both on Dig Out Your Soul. I remember an interview from 2008/2009 where Noel heard them and told Andy he could do better.

Damn, I think they are miles better than what Andy put out on DOYS and better than most of the backhalf of the album. Maybe it was changed by the time it got into DGSS? Probably not. Oh well.

Granted I'm assuming Noel meant those songs. I'm combining his words from 2008ish on Andy DOYS material and later what Andy said about those two songs being worked on during DOYS.

Simply their best ones. Four Letter Word, Off At The Next Exit, Back After The Break, World Outside My Room. There are probably a few of Liam's tunes that he could have whacked a cracking chorus into.

Maybe he was jealous?

Would you happen to have a link to this interview/story? Or perhaps a hint where Noel/Andy were saying this? During the promotional interviews (I think it was a NME track-by-track-preview) for DGSS, Kill For A Dream was described as already having been rejected for inclusion on Heathen Chemistry.

Bring The Light, Three Ring Circus and Wigwam probably being the only exceptions.

I remember this also. Apparently Kill for a Dream was the first song Andy wrote for Oasis. During the SOTSOG tour maybe?

The good ones, so Flick of the Finger, Soul Love, The Roller, maybe Start Anew.
I didn't realise he rejected Four Letter Word for DOYS, maybe because it's similar to Shock of the Lightning? It's the closest Andy or Gem got to writing a proper Oasis tune in my mind.

If Noel did reject Four Letter Word for DOYS then he's an idiot. It would have fit perfectly with the rocking start to the album, I think it's the best song any of them have produced since the break up. Kill For A Dream is dreadful so I'm with him there. I quite like Millionaire, perhaps Noel couldn't get his head around a song about Salvador Dali.

Here's what Noel had to say, from a 2011 NME interview: "'Millionaire' was gonna be on the last record, but I just cringed at the line, 'You've just got to know yourself'. I was like, 'Nooooo, not f***ing having that.' I thought it sounded like The Charlatans."

Many of us assume it's from the DOYS era but do we have any confirmation from Andy in any BDI interviews? I remember an interview where Beady Eye were asked if the song was written about Noel and they answered it would date back to 2007. Also had a quick Google search and found this, I might take a deeper look this evening: Dates back to the Oasis days, most likely to the point in time that Noel referred to when he said that on first joining Oasis, Andy and Gem “both tried to write what they thought were Oasis songs were like.” Because this is by far the most Oasis-sounding tune on the album, in the vein of ‘Headshrinker’ or ‘Bring It On Down’ or ‘(I Got) The Fever’.www.nme.com/blogs/nme-blogs/beady-eye-different-gear-still-speeding-what-do-you-think#JTCk7xjozGlC5sx3.99EDIT: Apparently there's also a 4-track demotape which Andy gave to Noel including Four Letter Word, Millionaire, The Nature Of Reality and The Beat Goes On some time before they went into the studio for DOYS. Don't know about that though, I never came across any reference to such a tape outside of this forum.
