This forum never ceases to amaze me, at times. The flak that the TITLE if 'Get Off Your High Horse Lady' got as well as numerous other titles. TITLES. Not the actual song.
So when it was announced that this new album would have a song on it called 'The Mexican' I donned my tin hat and ducked for cover. However, there has been none! Well done guys! The most condescending of pats on the backs to some of you

If 'The Mexican' had got flak, why on earth would you take it so personally?
"donned my tin hat and ducked for cover", you do know you're not actually Noel Gallagher, don't you?

Compared to (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady - The Mexican is decent and sensible enough

I don't understand what this thread is about you are angry that people are not upset at the title "The Mexican"?
Grow up.
I don't see a problem with "The Mexican" it's not like it's called "The N#gger"... & even then it's up to the lyrics.
I love High Horse I consider it a interlude to Falling Down
Now "keep the dream alive" is a title I don't like.. Christian rockband

It amazes me every time how you judge if the TITLE is good or bad. Ok, if it's the whole song but the tittle ? What if Get Off Your High Horse Lady was called Supersonic and Supersonic Get Off Your High Horse Lady ?

Supersonic and Champagne Supernova are stupid titles for a song. Does it make them less great? No.

I hated the title "Dream On" only because that is the title or another famous song by Aerosmith. Come up with something different Noel.

This thread is loaded. I don't hate the title, but this thread isn't to my satisfaction.

I expect this song to be a racist tirade that ends Noel's career. That's what you get for self producing

Something tells me 'The Mexican' will be the third or fourth single.

The title "The Mexican" has already been used by Babe Ruth. It was sampled in loads of hip hop tunes and used by Liam Howlett in his Dirtchamber Sessions DJ mix. It also features castanets like ITHOTM.

I think the title 'The Shock Of The Lightning' changed peoples views on song titles

I'm just seriously wondering where the lyrics "the Mexican" will fit into a song.
"God, slide my soul cause I am the Mexican" is my prediction.

Yeah I don't mind The Shock Of The Lightning as a title either. I think Get Off Your High Horse Lady is a worse title for instance.

I'm pretty sure there were a few threads debating the silliness of the title The Shock of the Lightning.
"The Mexican" does seem an odd title for Noel but beyond that I didn't give it any thought. I loved GOYHHL as a title (and as a song but I know many don't). If we're talking titles, "You Know We Can't Go Back" and "Ballad of the Mighty I" strike me as the most interesting.

Well noel has come up with some weird or bad ones But nothing is as bad or as head scratching as
" several species of small furry animals ,gathered together in a cave and grooving with a pict .." Mind numbing. As was the tune

Says a lot about Noel fans when you're "proud" that there wasn't hatred towards a song we've never heard. Yeah great accomplishment guys.

professional Mexican here...there is no foul play..coming from Mexico, you're called Mexican...if it was called the beaner on the other hand..then yeah we'd probably burn Noel's house down and he'd hire us to build it again...circle of life.

The Mexican is actually about Noel's obsession with old el Paso fajita kits
