Very much looking forward to a high quality version of this , YouTube quality is shite. Actually it's not that bad. You can rip a nice 192kbps audio from the 720p official video. Ok, it's no lossless, but for most casual listeners it's like gold... and this is why they won't buy it off iTunes.

I'm sure if it wasn't cost effective for them to lose sales via YT rips vs Album sales / gig tickets then they wouldn't put videos on YT

But at least most artists don't release the track one month after it gets uploaded on YouTube and premiered on the radio...

Yeah it's not necessarily the fact it's on Youtube and has been bootlegged to death already, though that plays a part as well, but it's the fact that it has been on Youtube for a full month. It's no secret that streaming and downloading have caused sales for singles and records to go down.

But at least most artists don't release the track one month after it gets uploaded on YouTube and premiered on the radio... They do (or just about) Sam Smith a big artist at the moment his next single is on the R2 A list like Noel's and the single comes out 7th december. The audio was uploaded onto VEVO in october (Also Take That new single comes out 23/11 the audio went up on VEVO 9/10 and the video on VEVO 31/10) Time isn't an issue really. You either pay for music or you don't. The people who rip YT vids or steal music will do it whether the single available to buy first or it leaks/ YT vid rip

Singles are just loss leaders for albums anyway, certainly for rock bands at least.

Thanks.

In Germany, Ireland etc you can buy ITHOTM and Do the damage. In Switzerland DTD charted and ITHOTM didn't. So you can buy both.

ITHOTM is now available on iTunes Italy. But no DTD, wtf. Not in the top 100, but #40 in Alternative. Not so good considering that HFB1 charted at #2 in Italy.
What about Spotify?!

Is the amount of streams being taken in account too when the rankings for the top40 are being calculated? Because then I hope they'll hurry up. Spotify would help a lot.
