Listening to the new song makes me sad how much better the first album would have sounded without sardy.

Listening to the new song makes me sad how much better the first album would have sounded without sardy. Noel should really work as a producer inbetween his own albums.

Some of the threats from people on this forum must've gotten through to Dave Sardy for him to turn Noel down.

Firstly, it has to be said, Noely G's production work has come on leaps and bounds since his last effort on the desk. From just this glimpse alone, his new stuff sounds fresher and certainly more modern (for once!) than Sardy's production. Still have an issue with the plodding drum track, but those cymbals at least offer SOME variation, something HFB didn't have.
Thankfully, for me, the only other similarity with HFB is the chorus which, although a great vocal performance from Noel (really quite stunning for a man of his age and history with smoking and substance abuse), sounds a bit meh, a la Dream On. The rest of the song is refreshingly un-HFB and those verses (particularly the second one with the lovely little Johnny Marr-esque guitar bits) are just Noel being the bloody great songwriter that he is.
7.5/10 for me, at present.

Not a bad idea at all. Anyway, I'm sure everyone at the Oasis/HFB/BE headquarters is already lurking on this site hahaha. Usually a lot of artists have the "official" forum and the other fan forums though - this forum might be too uncensored for the official music authorities. I can confirm that they are.... tell them I said hi!

Haha sax crimes. I'm intrigued by this album, I was so disappointed with his debut. Hopefully we may get another treat tonight with Jo Whiley.

Thanks theyknowwhatimean and Lennon2217. I guess I had my head up in the clouds. That, or it's information overload and I can't process all of this yet. Now, wouldn't it be grand if Johnny actually appeared on stage with Noel to play that song at some point?
