Just heard on radio kinks to tour starting in November for there 50 th , plus there anthology LP will contain 25 unreleased tunes from the period from 69-71 , sounds cool hope I get to see them ..about time , IF THE DAVIES CAN PULL THIS OFF SO CAN THE GALLAGHERS lets hope it don't take as long just want one more live oasis gig or tour to follow. This gives hope plus I love the kinks..... matt i know you will be stoked

This anthology CD sounds amazing, 25 unreleased tunes, wonder why Ray Davies has left them for so long? Certainly, if the Davies can get back together, then ANY brothers can get back together.
I'm sure Noel and Liam will get back on track, always feel there will be a reunion, even if I don't think its a great idea cos Liam's voice aint too good.
But I really hope The Kinks get back together - would be amazing if they did something like Glastonbury.

I did not post this thinking this means a oasis reunion , im happy for them only , my other observation was Ive said for years here the DAVIES brothers feud was so much more intense than the gallaghers that if they ever make up anyone could , time does heal old wounds been saying that since break up

Such a great great band, people think of them as a singles band but even though they have killer tunes, their album work should be praised much higher. I love the Rolling Stones too, but I'd have to name Kinks and Beatles as the best British bands of the 60s for me personally.
Arthur (Or The Decline and Fall of the British Empire) is one the greatest albums to have emerged from the 60s. This tune is so brilliant - Dave Davies guitar when it comes in at 1.40 is one of the best moments in music. For all the talk of Ray's songwriting ability, lets remember how great a guitar player Dave is.

This is one of my favourite Kinks tunes. Great footage of them on the German show Beat Club.

Love this one! Never the strongest of voices old Ray Davies, but always versatile "You walk down the street, And all the young punks whistle at you, 'A nice bit of old', Just goes show what you can achieve with the right attitude As you pass them by, They whisper their remarks, one to another And you give them eye, Even though you know you could be their mother"

Love the folky, wistful quality of this tune. Brilliant lyrics too - I particularly like the line "I'll leave the sun behind me and watch the clouds as they sadly pass me by"

Anybody else see the tracklisting for their new best of "The Essential Kinks"? It has a lot of their hallmark gems but only features a early 70s live version of Lola. What the fuck? Who wants that?!?!?!? Gimme the real deal. Granted I do already own all the classic Kinks albums so this release isn't aimed at me. However, for a newbie fan, they probably want the studio version of Lola.
