my biggest regret in life is downloading the iOS 8 update.... I still can't get pics to post via direct links, so I just upload pics to Photobucket and then post them, and even that's kind of a pain in the ass. oh well....computers won't stop me. God bless. It's beyond frustrating , and the kid geeks at Apple store here have no solution , basically. 2 choices. Hope ios 9 fixes or buy new one , they couldn't get me back to iOS 7 I give up ,just writing this i had to start over 3 times it freezes and I start all over. Sux To be Honest, my little sisters have Ipads and before had kindle fire. I personally have Lenovo thinkpad laptop. My golden retriever laid on it, I dropped it a few times and it works fine still.Which, most other laptops won't. If you want touch screen tablet related. I would look into Lenovo refurbish ones. My laptop is a refurbish and I still got 1 year warranty via IBM. laptops refurbish www-304.ibm.com/shop/americas/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/default/CategoryDisplay?categoryId=2576396&storeId=1&catalogId=-840&langId=-1combo www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Yoga-Convertible-Touchscreen-Refurbished/dp/B00N42UYRA/ref=sr_1_22?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1412902536&sr=1-22&keywords=lenovo+yoga+2+prowww.lenovo.com/us/en/Microsoft Surface does look nice and possible option. I know kalas, you like simple. I know windows is headache with malware and viruses. You always can try Linux Ubuntu operating system is pretty solid. It has little to no chance of viruses and malware. Application center is right there in one spot and most apps are free. Dodgy with printers and some Wifi stuff though. You got to figure out whats comfortable for you. I've found with windows operating system with microsoft security essentials, which is for free. Plus, malwarebytes ( creative ways can be free) is almost impossible for viruses or malware to get into your computer. I have relatives and family members set up this way. I never have to worry much.

Google Chromebook

That commercial is ridiculous and misleading. You can create and save documents when offline in google docs. You can even install your favorite Ubuntu on it. For most people all I would recommend is a Chromebook. The majority of people like kalas only use their computer to go online. They dont create content, play games, use photoshop. They turn on their computer and check facebook. Why do they need a Windows computer? How often do they use their computer when it's offline? Why spend $500 on a laptop to use a web browser when I can spend $229 to do the same?

NASA uses thinkpad in the space station. Chromebook are made cheap and google can collect info to sell for their ads too. I prefer a solid built laptop can take bumps and daily life. I went through Compaq Presario laptop, toshiba satellite laptop and HP G60 laptop in the last 5.5 years. Thinkpad has not let me down. My girlfriend gotten one 4 years ago. Her laptop is fine still.

Different computers for different people. There is nothing wrong with those computers. I personally dont care for windows anymore. All the bloatware, viruses, and adware but they serve their purpose for a certain group of people. My point is why spend $400-500 on a pc when all you need is a web browser? Plus there are many well built Chromebooks. My daughter has abused her Samsung Chromebook and its held up very well. It does everything a middle school kid needs it to do. She uses it to play web games, youtube, Netflix, and google docs. It boots up right away because the operating system isnt bogged down with everything else. Google is a company that makes most of its revenue off of ads. I think most people are aware of this by now. I use gmail but its not my primary account. I use chrome too but I use AdBlocker so I dont see any ads. Those Scrrogled commercials are Microsoft scared of losing marketshare.

For me I have to have windows for photoshop, Sony Vegas, microsoft office,Divx converter, Faststone Capture.Linux applications does have software close to windows, but not close with photoshop and Sony Vegas features.Libreoffice is a fine replacement for Microsoft office. I do like Ubuntu, but linux distros has to be improve on. Ubuntu is damn near close. Yes, Wine works fine for windows programs in linux setting. Mac XOS is starting to have more viruses and security issues, because common use of iPhone and iPad. I just don't like Mac support and the way they handle their business. People should not/have to buy new hardware every 2/3 years or afraid lose support on hardware is 5 years old. Certain hardware can last years and should be a honor of support. I understand why Microsoft stopped supporting Windows XP. Technology changed beyond what XP was attended for being. I do agree main objective. That everyone should be open to try outside the box. Linux operating systems can be tried before install and can be installed along with windows. Mac X OS can be install onto your pc, but it's serious research, work, and right hardware. I've done it in 6 hours. Chrome is another approached and yes, it was once based on linux. MAC and Microsoft users should not be scared, tricked, pressured, or pay the high amounts of money these companies to try to squeeze your hard earned money into billions of profit to them. The world and technology is grown near points the world is beyond the big two companies. In fact, if it's the common language interface, then it should not be an issue of what is powering the applications. I'm bias with thinkpads, because i've wasted 1900 on crappy laptops in the past.

I'm biased w/ Macs. My wife and I have owned too many horrible pc's. My early 208 Imac still runs great. I almost never shut it off but if I did I could still be on the internet in less than three minutes. It only has 4g or ram and less than 8 g of free space on it but it does everything I need it to do and it does it well. My wifes Mac Book Pro is three years old. She does more intensive stuff like photoshop and content creation and has never had a problem w/ hers. Neither machine has ever been in the shop or had any viruses. I've never had any "security issues" w/ either device and of all the people that I know (anecdotal I know) have ever had an issue. You know more than me on the technical aspects of computers, Ive never built my own machine or insatlled another OS on any of my machines. Macs might cost a little more but that margin is shrinking. For me the price is worth it from a user experience. Windows is the most frustrating OS Ive ever used from 94 to 8. Ive never used Linux so I cant comment on it but I'll never go back to Windows.

For me it is an ease and comfort thing. I fully switched into the Apple world when I bought my Mac Book Pro in 2007. It's still running strong in 2014 despite 3 battery replacements. Eventually when it dies I'm going to purchase a Mac Book Air. Those things are so sweet and not over the top expensive IMO. I also own an iPad mini with retina and an iPhone. At this point in my life I want all my devices to sync seamlessly. I am a very happy Mac owner.

The first few iterations were overpriced and under performed but the new ones last all day and arent under specked anymore. The new ones should have the "retina" display too. I would definitley get it over a pro. I just cracked the bezel on my retina mini last night . I fell asleep with it on the couch last night and it fell on the tile face down. I cant feel the crack but hope it doesnt grow.

Was my dumb mistake.

If it's gonna split, that's the part you want it to I guess.

Most you're saying is software end not hardware end.Intel>AMD..Night and day difference between the two.I've owned PC with AMD processors and they were crap. I worked a section off of Intel and I know how the chips are process are made and quality of product they used. I'm personally bored of windows. I've used windows since 3.1.1 to 7.MAC OS system 1,Panther,Snow Leopard, Mavericks. I understand you're saying. Anyone with right hardware can install MAC XOS on their computer.

The only thing I like more about this tablet over an iPad is say, when clicking on a thread with multiple pages, a zoom feature makes it easier to select the page wanted. My iPad is still frozen...i'm hoping that when the battery power dies I can restart without issue. Sternumman, my iPhone question: does the music speakers/sound quality on each year's new iPhone improve? The 5c has a noticeably louder/better listening experience than the 5, the year older iphone...maybe I have a setting wrong, I don't know. Also, the preset EQ settings suck for every iPhone model. This tablet's keyboard is a pain in the ass; iPad's are mucho better. God bless.

The 6 has the loudest of them all by far. Its even louder than my iPad. Under settings go to music. There is a setting for volume limit. Make sure the setting is to max volume.

I can only get the 'slide to unlock' or 'slide to power off' screens to come up by either hitting the home button or (holding) the sleep/wake button but it won't "slide". I have the volume limit on the iphone up as high as it'll go...probably just the phone/EQ quality itself, oh well. The battery power on the iPad has only gone down 3% in a day from 72% to 69%,so some time in about 2017 the iPad will lose battery power... Again, this tablet keyboard fucking sucks. I'm punching the next person who says tablet's are better than iPad's. God bless.
