The best thing I've heard in 2017 is actually a song sitting in a basement full of tapes since 1997.

That early The National Anthem and isolated distorted vocals/guitar solo from Climbing Up the Walls sound like heavy metal! If it weren't mixed by Nigel Godrich, I reckon OK Computer would've been the greatest album Metallica never made.

I'm really loving this OKC version of Nude. Thom is absolutely singing the shit out of that song and those Highway 61 Hammond organ swirls.....holy hell......

Years of listening to Amnesiac and I never noticed the faint piano loops in the background of Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors. No wonder I didn't recognize them on the tape! I blame the shitty boombox I owned back then.

It's amazing how revelatory the tape has been, it's almost like getting a brand new studio album from Radiohead.

Is the only way to get hold of this tape via the £100 box set or am I being an idiot?

True Love Waits is like Murphy's "ghost" in Interstellar. It keeps popping up from time to time (concert teases, I Might Be Wrong, social media photos, AMSP, OKNOTOK, etc) to remind us of it's brilliance despite not fully presenting itself to us in 2016. Born in 1995, this song continues its folklore. With this cassette tape you can hear Thom singing True Love Waits in the far away distance. Its like Nigel and company killed all other tracks on this take and just let the loops live. They could have easily given us both. But not yet. That day will probably come for the Kid A special edition in 2020.

To make it perfect, I'd swap 15 Step, Bodysnatchers, Creep, and The Bends for Fake Plastic Trees, Kid A, The National Anthem, and How to Disappear Completely.

That set list is just crazy good. A DJ playing 45 minutes of fart noises either side of Idiotique would be good enough but ffs, I know they've been around a while but what an immense selection of songs. Nothing else to add, just what a fucking band

One thing I love about A Moon Shaped Pool is that Jonny Greenwood is all over it in a unique sense - not so much in a guitar sense but his orchestration. Those staccato strings in Burn The Witch have that nervous tension to it like his soundtrack for There Will Be Blood. Gives it a brooding menace that the guitar perhaps wouldn't be able to do and gives the album a widescreen cinematic feel to it.

To be fair Jonny has been all over Radiohead records outside guitar since 1997. He pops up playing weird things all the time. The guitar is not his first love or instrument.

Colin Greenwood gives me the creeps. It probably doesn't help when I see him re-tweeting wanky nonsense like this:
