Oh crap! A Pablo Honey track! People diss Pablo a lot but it does contain a bunch of tunes I still enjoy to this day. It's not fair to compare this LP to The Bends and Ok Computer. Radiohead made a sonic jump between 1993 and 1995. The stuff legends are made of. - You - Creep - Stop Whispering - Thinking About You - I Can't - Blow Out That's half the album right there. So it can't all be bad. You, Lurgee, Thinking About You, and Blow Out are top tracks for sure.

Rest of album was pretty meh / crap. You say big leap from Pablo Honey to The Bends and was in some (or many) ways but by early 1994 Radiohead were already playing most of the songs on The Bends.

That's one of my favorite Radiohead gigs, but I always found the difference between the Pablo Honey and Bends tracks quite uneven. In that you could clearly tell which songs were better. This was even more noticeable when the occasional PH track made it into the OKC tour setlists. The transition between Paranoid Android and Creep was jarring.

Has anyone else noticed how much Thom has aged, in just like 5 years?

Thom Yorke in Pablo Honey era looked like Macaulay Culkin doing a Kurt Cobain impression.

Has it's moments and shows the potential, but a bit derivative and nowhere near the peaks the bands would go on to have.

While I do like the new album, I sort of see your point. Thom is a great singer, and he has a lot more to his voice than a whine. I miss the menace.

Watching a band evolve and evolve and evolve. Oasis didn't really do that after 1996. SOTSOG was a good start with fresh ideas but the timing wasn't right. Noel probably needed another year to develop 2-3 more tunes to round it out.

Heard the album on these days and it's very good, relaxing, much better than the awful TKOL, but it's not the masterpiece some are saying, it's that they did better before this kind of mellow mid tempo weird stuffs, and if you don't pay atention they'll blend with one another, like on the second side.
Loved Present Tense and Tinker Tailor, and some of those songs which I've heard before like Identkit and TLW are great too.
