Does anyone else think the beat isn't loud or heavy enough? It seems to be too low in the mix. I strongly believe every sound in this song, as subtle as it might be, was designed and mixed deliberately to sound like it actually does. Probably for months or even years. When Thom teased the song live in 2006 (or 2008?), he already proclaimed that it needed an orchestra. Anyway, I think it sounds glorious. That understated beat is typical Radiohead. I'm not fully convinced of the tune itself yet, but the arrangement is lovely. I wonder how they're going to manage to perform it live.

I'm not sold on it. It's not compelling to me.

It grew on me a bit, but it's not that impressive or earth shattering for a first single, they can do better I think, as I hope for the other new songs on the album.

What if this was just a standalone single and the album is still going to be released after the tour? I'd like it if this was the case, and BTW wasn't on LP9. I don't wanna wait til after the tour though.

The strings sound like percussion and the percussion sound like strings. Brilliant!

Apparently there will be a Burn the Witch/Spectre 7'' released soon, only available from indie record stores.

The novelty of BTW has kind of worn off for me now unfortunately I don't hate it, I just don't find it very interesting anymore. Although, I have listened to it about 20 times in the last 24 hours.

What are the chances of getting the album tomorrow? Pretty low?

What are the chances of getting the album tomorrow? Pretty low? Everybody thinks its coming out tomorrow for some reason, so I'll stay Optimistic.

I have a hard time believing the album won't be dropped by then. Makes too much sense. This 7" is throwing a monkey wrench in my thinking but who knows what the fuck is going on with that.

With the string arrangements found on both Spectre and Burn The Witch, I'm finally starting to believe that "Lift" might see the light of day on LP9.

I hope they do bring an album out tomorrow. Will make not revising for an exam I have coming up, much easier.
But tell me, Radiohead fans, why do people reckon it's coming out tomorrow at all? What's so big about the 6th of May?... Or is it that it's a Friday?... Or...?

What's so big about the 6th of May?... Or is it that it's a Friday?... Or...? I only think this because of a handful of reasons.................................. - Last album cycle, Lotus Flower came out only days before The King of Limbs. - Radiohead tend to deliver things quickly and suddenly. Not ones to drag it out once the blitz starts. - Radiohead deleting their internet presence earlier in this week probably means something larger, yes its kinda back now but thats a statement bigger than just a single. - The global release for albums now take place on Fridays. - The tour starts in 15 days. However, a vinyl single out May 16th featuring Burn The Witch and Spectre would make tomorrow extremely unlikely.

If they release 'Lift' and 'Big Boots', i'll be perfectly happy with LP9 I give "Lift" a 50/50 shot at being on the new album. Unfortunately I do not think "Big Boots" will make the cut. It'll probably pop up on an anthology release years and years from now.

It's Thom looking for God which is very much like finding Jerry's car in the garage. * How about that 1991 Scientology reference by George. Ahead of it's time for sure.
