1. DM 2. WTSMG 3. TMP 4. BHN Noel's mistake was not having TMP be an album in its own right. If TMP was the third album, they would have continued their rising trajectory. And in away, it bridges the gap to the sound of BHN. Spot on!!!! I'v always thought that the TM should have been the 3rd album as well. Take out the swamp song and IATW and add in another two crackers like Round Are Way or Step out and you have a classic!!!

Personally I like the darker tone of SOTSOG so I wouldn't have scrapped it and started again with Andy and Gem.
It had already been three years since their last studio album, if they'd waited much longer it would have been a Stone Roses-type scenario.
IMO, they should have embraced the uncertainty that surrounded the band at that point and given the public an album that truly reflected what the vibe was at that time.
This is the mix I've made for SOTSOG and it's a great listen that offers something different to a typical Oasis album and I reckon it could have been lauded as such:
