I know it's another what if thread and all, but they actually could do it back then. I remember when there were rumours about them getting into the studio they were calling it Oasis 2.0. And what is more it was actually Liam who came up with the name and Noel joined Oasis, not The Rain so it would be acceptable i think. Of course it's so much better that they did it that way to respect the Oasis legacy but that would be the whole different story in a different light then innit. Pink Floyd never changed the name and they were doing so much better than Roger Waters alone when he quit.
And please don't fuckin yell at me, its a forum website on the internet, we're not writting a bible here. There's still much place on here for much greater and original threads.

I think if they would've done that they would have definitely been more popular(at least to the general public because of brand recognition). I also wouldn't have had as much a problem with them playing Oasis songs. Once they decided to be something completely different(with the same name) they should've kept using just their new material imo. But in the end, for people like me, who would end up listening to what they put out regardless, I don't think it impacted the actual songs they released at all, so it doesn't really matter.

Oasis has ended with the worst album they ever made and ended in the stupid way (but it suited them for somehow), but I respect Liam, Gem, Andy and Chris that they started with a new name.
No matter what happens, there was/is/will be only one Oasis to me, with both Gallaghers in the same band. No Noel= No Oasis No Liam = No Oasis

No way... I did not have any problem with BDI playing Oasis songs here and there...but to carry on under name Oasis would have been unacceptable. Everybody knows Oasis = Liam + Noel.

They would have been an absolute laughing stock and they've said since that it wasn't an option

I'm not sure if they'd be more popular had they kept the name Oasis.
Also, I think not keeping it was the right thing to do. Noel was a keymember. It was all about Liam and Noel. People like Guigs, Bonehead, Gem, Andy, the drummers..they could all be replaced (while some beg to differ about that) This way they were respectful and could start on a fresh page.

If Beady Eye called themselves Oasis they would have destroyed so much legacy. They played it smart and I thank them for that. No Noel, no Oasis. Same applies to Liam.

Keeping the Oasis name would've been really really stupid. Almost as stupid as doing Oasis covers. I wish they'd stuck to their guns and just played their own songs. Or as a bare minimum had backing vocals on Morning Glory.

I remember before Beady Eye's first gig Liam joked that they'd be doing a cover of Wonderwall and everyone laughed. I still can't believe that they ever played Oasis songs tbh.

The Beady Eye's music would be even more unfairly criticised than it is currently.

It would have been a dishonor to the legacy of Oasis. Not because of the songs they created, but because they decided to continue on without Noel, while using the same name.

I think they should've (if Noel was okay with it). Everything is so cheap these days. Nothing is sacred. Nothing matters. The usual idiots would've accepted it as Oasis without Noel and they'd have done the business I'm sure. Gem would've settled in nicely to his new role as Noel No 2 and begun trashing Liam in the press to keep the old spirit of Oasis alive. Numerous drummers would've come and gone. Robbie Williams would've been the butt of jokes on the tour bus as as always. It would've worked if they'd tried it. Didn't Noel originally say if they want to carry on as Oasis he'd be fine with it since he was leaving Oasis. Didn't say he wanted the rest to stop. Granted Noel knew LAG was too smart to make that mistake.

No matter what happens, there was/is/will be only one Oasis to me, with both Gallaghers in the same band. No Noel= No Oasis No Liam = No Oasis DOYS was a very good album. The first half of the album upto track 7 was excellent, Noel wrote 6 and Liam wrote 1. The last 4 songs were very average. I think this was a conscious decision by Noel to go top heavy with his own songs and not hide the others average efforts in amongst his. They would've been on a hiding to nothing if they continued without Noel considering he wrote the first 4 albums (except Little James) in their entirety. Everything they done would've been slaughtered

I loved DOYS. In fact, it's my third favourite Oasis album.
