Believe it or not. I don't mind! I know a few ppl of Noels camp for many years who have been around with him since the early Oasis days and still working on his tours. Regularly having contact or talking with these folks. Was told by one of them. Not some roadies or stage hands. Would be much appreciated if you share any more info you find out mate.

Has to be said, oasis really did have the greatest logo in all of musicland. Simple but striking, and completely timeless. Like the music itself (well, the 90s stuff anyway) And that was a masterstroke of Bonehead's to argue for a Rolls in a swimming pool. Seeing it closer up like that makes me wish the shot for the album was more like that, maybe with Liam sat on the bonnet, scowling, and the rest of the band all lined up at the other end of the pool with the props they nabbed that were actually good (mainly just the calendar with THURSDAY 21 AUGUST on it, Bonehead's giant gold key, the scooter, and the model Earth atop a stack of amps )

They should have never ever ever changed their logo. Hated the look for the SOTSOG album cycle. When it comes to merchandising and branding, never fuck with an established brand logo.

Yeah it didn't help one of the big three US automakers much IIRC... Even if to be honest the T-shirt was a little more honest appraisal of the situation back then, the brand still got a Cease & Desist from Ford Motor Company

The SOTSOG logo, much like Noel's choice of denim at the time, looks very early-00s now. Did like the DOYS edit of the original logo though. Thought it was a nice idea to link the logo to the gorgeous artworks whathisface did for the album and singles, reflecting the shift in sound the band were going for at the time. Just wish (as always with Noel) the band had followed through at their end and changed the actual music up as much as the logo and artworks changed.

Noel's fashion and music were in a funk between 1998 and 2004. Dark times my friend, dark fucking times....

So much changed for the band after the 90's glory days, that I can understand the need / want to change the logo... The original band members were down from five to two... The end of Brit-pop and the public opinion of the band changing... So they mixed things up by dropping their go-to producer and changed musical direction - if only for one album. But I'll never understand why they decided to go with that logo! It neither fit the mood nor the style they where going in. it appeared too bold and confident at a time they'd lacked the swagger they were known for.

Aside from some hit and miss songwriting moments, that logo was one of Gem's more questionable efforts on first joining the band given as you say the direction they were heading in....

Gem designed it?!? Why Noel why??? The why is presumably it was either let him do the logo or else rerecord Heavy Stereo/Hurricane #1 songs for HC....either way the poor sod had Hobson's Choice

The Oasis logo in 2002 was much worse than in 2000.

Brian Cannon put a lot of thought into the Oasis logo, playing around with different fonts to make sure it would stand out on posters and music shop racks from a distance. Getting a new band member with no graphic design training to replace their iconic logo was idiotic. I wonder what Brian had to say!? The spud / peardrop thread goes to show you can put the original Oasis logo on random photographs and they still look like great music artworks or posters.

Does the border make the Oasis logo?
