Managed to hear the longer sample from iTunes UK? And man it's beautiful. Acoustic guitar, bass, and Liam's voice is clear as fuck. Can't wait to hear it all.

How good is this??? Shit. Strings? Acoustic guitar? Clap? Bass? Everything for the most part is clear. Solo sounds great. Vocals - incredible.
Damn. Repeat.

Fuck!! Just heard it!! Liam's vocals sound way better, the bass is cool, I like how the lead guitar parts are louder, the strings are great at first but maybe a bit repetitive later on, and I don't like the guitar solo, intro, or outro as much as the original. If someone can mesh the best of both together, it'll be the best song ever. Those are my thoughts. Firstly; FINALLY. Secondly, I think there's a lot more space and you can actually hear the song breathe. It's not being weighed down and it really gives it new life. As much as I like DYKWIM, the only reason some hold onto the original is because it's the original and has some nostalgia. But no producer in their right mind would say that DYKWIM should stay as it is. Having said that, Liam's voice sound amazing. I think the bass may be a tad bit too high. Would like to have heard more of Noel's backing vocals. The solo sounds like complete trash, which is sad, because a lot of Noel's fills really come through in this mix and they sound amazing. The strings were great the first five or six times I heard them, after that, they did get a bit repetitive, and the outro just feels like it's been slapped on. It feels like he started it, but didn't complete it, then had to circle back to it, and said "fuck it, I'll just slap the outro back in and see if I can mix it down." Even with all that, it's definitely a worthy version and I would have been far more curious to hear a completely re-worked album than a remastered version, and unless the bonus demos are new songs, then I would have taken a re-worked album over the entire second disc. I think a re-mastered version of the album, a re-worked version of the album, and the mystique demos would have been a really nice package. |
