Kind of interesting but pretty much what I expected - Noel singing them on an acoustic guitar.
Some Might Say and Hey Now sound like live takes.

Its great to finally have a proper alternative version of Hey Now. This version of the SMS demo is miles better than the version on the Japanese SMS single, I always thought that was too slow / long.
The demo of Rockin Chair is probably worth the cost of the 3CD set alone!

So the only other major thing were waiting on MG wise is the Hello demo and then we can turn our attention to the Mustique demos ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I still think they might release a 'Chasing The Sun' super dooper boxset with all 3 albums combined into one to cash in on christmas sales. I would buy it if it was truly limited to say 1000, so it would actually be an investment, rather than spend good money on something just to slowly watch it plummet in value like the DM set is already starting to do.

I would like to hear Roll With It demo or something like this: That acoustic Roll With It is great, would be good to have a full version. Interestingly, Noel sings "I've lost inside", which I've always thought was the lyric rather than "I'm lost inside" which is generally quoted. Apologies for being such an anorak.

Hopefully these 'demos' will convince the Liam haters that Oasis would never have been the band we all know and love without him.
Sung by Noel, these are decent little tunes, but Liam's vocals turned them into something amazing.

Pretty cool. Always nice to hear these songs with just an acoustic guitar and Noel's voice.

It has to be said that generally one doesn't put too much effort into a demo, but anyway I guess everyone knows there would have been no Oasis without Liam or Noel

A common view these days is that he was basically riding on his big brother's coat tails. Noel's songs were brilliant, but Liam's vocal delivery took them to a new level and invested them with so much pathos, passion and meaning.

All of them sound good considering the songs are in their most basic state.
I thought Hey Now was the best demo of this bunch. I really enjoy the feedback heavy version that they put on the album. It is one of the more interesting audio experiments that Oasis did, but the song sounds outstanding on the acoustic guitar. The melancholy of it really fits the lyrics the well. Hey Now is actually a song that I'd love Noel to do live. Would have been cool to see him do with Gem during that acoustic tour. Yeah it is probably the worst on WTSMG but it is a good song.
Rockin' Chair has one of Liam's best vocals so its obvious that Noel's acoustic demo wouldn't ever surpass it. The Some Might Say demo is basically a live acoustic take. The slower heavier version that we previously had is more interesting to me.
You really get to see what made Oasis special in these demos. Noel's songs are incredibly strong in a melodic sense and they have a lingering sense of melancholy around them but its Liam's vocal elevates them. Liam's voice injects a spirit and confidence into these songs that contrasts his brother's weariness. The under lying sense of melancholy and the act of balancing it out with confidence is probably one of the most essential characteristics that made the band so special. Its an act that so many bands try to pull off but not many can.

Its an act that so many bands try to pull off but not many can. Exactly. It's why it still annoys the hell out of me when people simply dismiss them as Manc thugs and Beatles wannabes. They were so much more than that, especially from 94-96. That mix of melancholy, longing and desire to rise above the shit that surrounded them growing up made them, and the songs, very special. And all of it was perfectly communicated through Liam's voice. 'We'll see things they never see' indeed.
