Just wondering if anyone else noticed the similarity cause it was my first association when i first heard the song, especially the soundcheck version.
Btw, what an outstanding track Mad World is when i'm listening to it right now.

The verse melody is a bit similar I suppose. I've always vastly preferred the original of that song btw, just in case you didn't know it was a cover (IMO the Gary Jules one is too overbearing - and since it's a cover, it can't actually be as personal as he tries to make it sound). The original actually reminds me more of EOTR than the Gary Jules cover: It must suck to be a one hit wonder whose "hit" is a cover

Never realized this and I never knew Gary's version was a cover. Cool.

I can't stand the cover although I used to enjoy it years ago before I heard the original. Tears for Fears have some really good tunes, I always thought The Seeds of Love was an inspiration for All Around the World.

I always thought The Seeds of Love was an inspiration for All Around the World. There are a lot of parallels between the first three Tears for Fears albums and the first three Oasis albums (1st = classic with a low budget sound, 2nd = classic with slicker production and more U.S. airplay, 3rd = bloated and overproduced but still better than anything they released after). I think they're rather underrated these days, actually. My favorite song of theirs:

Funny, this is one of the few exceptions where I prefer the cover over the original.
Doesn't remind me of EOTR at all btw.
