A great news from one of my most favourite bands - The Twilight Sad - to release their 4th album in October. You can hear the first single from the album on the link below.

We're very excited to announce to that we will be releasing our our 4th album "Nobody Wants To Be Here & Nobody Wants To Leave" on 27(UK/EU) and 28 (US/CAN) October 2014. This is a record that we're extremely proud of and I can't wait for everyone to hear it. We're very happy to introduce to you the lead track from the record "There's A Girl In The Corner"

To support the release we'll be going on tour in Scotland, England & and we'll be joining our good friends We Were Promised Jetpacks on their North America tour. We're really looking forward to getting back on the road and sharing our new songs with you.

This year we reissued our debut record "Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters". Over the past 7 months we've been performing the record live and I'm really happy that we're going to be able to bring that live show over to the US for a very special show in New York on October 16th. matt, what a fantastic news, finally the new album! I'm loving the new single. It's less dark for Sads, but a great tune. I'm really looking forward to their new album and dying to see them again!
If any of you on here are interested in their music, please go to see them live and buy their records. They're the band with not much publicity, but keep creating their own great music.

Looking at the tracklist, they seem to have a way with titles that when you read them you just know it's a Twilight Sad song. Not sure what it is exactly, the titles just always seem to fit.

Completely agree about the tracklist. I have 3 of their setlists (all handwritten) and if you look at them, you have no idea which songs they would be. For exapmle this one is from the Fatcat Tour 2011:

Cheers Mimmi, missed this post the first time around - I think I was off this site for a couple of weeks back in August, so apologies for no reply.

Really really love There's A Girl in the Corner - less dark, but more introspective and mellow than previously. Love the melancholy in it. Shows a band not intent on just relying on their usual tricks.

Just lisetned to "Last January". They're touring in the US October and November.
I'm dying to see them again. It's been more than 2 years when I saw them last time.

I agree with matt. Their class debut album, quite dark and heavy second album, less dark third album and this new album. This is the band which became big by being small. Great, great band is that.

Been listening to them a lot recently and they really are great aren't they? 3 really solid albums and I've no doubt the new one will be good as well. The more I listen to There's a Girl in the Corner the more I think it's a brilliant lead single, bridges the first 3 albums really well. Quite like Last January on first listen as well.

Cheers! I'm aware of both of them but haven't actually listened to either. Always thought 'Killed My Parents and Hit the Road' was more of a live ep, didn't realise it was that long! I'll get round to listening to them at some point. Still got the acoustic ep to listen to as well.

Quite tempted to go and see them when they play Glasgow in December, reckon I'd enjoy it much more than the previous time I saw them. Was just getting into them and only really knew 6/7 songs, was mainly there for the support band We Were Promised Jetpacks. Still liked it, but I wasn't prepared for how loud they would be (still the loudest gig I've been to!).

Just got their new album "Nobody Wants To Be Here And Nobody Wants To Leave" today. (is out in UK on Monday and Tuesesay on US, but we always have the new release which come out on Monday on Friday or Saturday overhere).

Just listened to the whole album and I'm loving it, especially "It Never Was The Same".
I really love them. Truly fantastic band.

I'm listening to the new album right now on my ipod, currently listening to In Nowheres. Quality quality album so far, first impressions - thinking it's better than the last one, only a good thing as No One Can Ever Know was very good too.

I can imagine in their full live capacity they are similar to My Bloody Valentine considering what I've heard. I've only seen them once and that was an acoustic gig.

I think this new album is most close to their debut album than the other 2.
Second album was very dark and heavy, 3rd album was more mellow. They always have shocking artwork, but behind dark and sad lyrics, there's beautiness and sensivity, the singer James Graham has penned.
I think he's a great poet.

and matt, I hope you can see their non acoustic performance soon. It's loud and dramatic. and brilliant.

Yeah, they can mix it up when they want to. There were hints of more old fashion mellow electronica on the last album, but they've kind of balanced it out more from their earlier albums. Sounds more mature and more melancholy as a result.

Album has been released here in Glasgow since Friday in the independent stores (there's an excellent store called Love Music in Glasgow that has a whole host of second hand records, limited LPs - you'd love it mimmi), it's fairly popular with the indie store crowd as I got one of the last few copies on Saturday before todays general release.

Great review. Great site too, I like how the reviews are very objective and balanced, and nothing condescending or snide about anything unlike most other music journals - mind you, the NME 'receive' all its news simply by clicking on live4ever. They could learn a thing or two from reading a real review too.
