Might not bother with the record at this rate. Drum machines, more strings, no edge whatsoever europop that as spud says would be more suited to Eurovision.
Its not that much different to Coldplay except that you can tell that Coldplay spent a shit load of money on it.

'Out of My Body' sounds decent. Interesting idea to go from Johnny Cash to contemporary house.
The other clips sounded great, typical Ashcroft written songs.
'Songs of Experience' is ok. Not my favourite of his, sounds confused.

Both songs already song even better than the record versions. They literally went from eh...ok, to fantastic for me. Has me worried about the production on the rest of the record.

Should I upload it in MP3 or FLAC when finished? Will anyone care about it being lossy or prefer lossless / just upload two versions?

when people can, have a listen to this live session, fantastic listen, musics great and RAs a great talker, brings up some interesting stuff.
like how he says he would be disappointing and ripping people off if he didnt play the songs people want to hear when they work hard and come out for a particular song on their night off.

I never dug when Noel got into the fake choir, strings and cheesy mellotron phase he was in between 1999 and 2004.

About the new single...I wasn't expecting much but wow, I really don't like this. At all.
Is this what it feels like when one of your favourite artists release a record you really can't stand?

Got to be one of the cheesiest men in music. The fucking drivel he comes out with in interviews. And that accent. What the fuck is that stupid accent. Just say 'erm', mate. Not 'ahm'. You're from Wigan.

The acoustic version of Hold On sounds more interesting than the album version, IMHO. 30 seconds in and its already much better. Still think the song is about as generic as can be (then again, I think Come On Outside is also somewhat generic) but just Richard and his guitar is when he is at his best IMO.

I fear this album will have a big overproduction problem. As most of Ashcroft's solo efforts, actually...
The acoustic performances of the new tracks are really good, Richard's still got it.
