Since both are very similar, wondering which everyone prefers.
Was getting stuck into Blur last month.
Haven't given Pulp a full chance, but I do value Pulp ahead of Blur - there's more substance with Pulp, I feel. Going to be giving Pulp more listens in the near future, I hope.
His N Her is a top album. And there are obvious classics on Different Class.
Regardless, there's no chance in hell either band were better than Oasis. How anyone could think any differently boggles my mind.

Blur without a doubt,
Not the biggest Pulp fan if I'm honest but Disco 2000 is a tune,
I think Blur are actually underated and are rarely mentioned in the best British bands lists which is criminal for a band who produced so many phenominal songs and albums whilst constantly changing their sound from, baggy Madchester sounding wannabe's to Kinks-esque British pop, to American college rock through to Radiohead style experimentalists,
Listened to Think Tank last week for the first time in years and love it. Probably my favourite album of theirs. I hated all the Oasis v Blur nonsense because I've always loved both but Think Tank coming less than 12 months after Heathen Chemistry just showed how far the bands and come (well one had progressed, the other regressed) and grown apart

Always same pattern. - Uneven album - Big lead single - Months of endless touring - 3 year break - Repeat

There is no comparison really. Blur/Damon are one of the greatest artists of all time. Pulp are great but only Different Class is a classic.

Since both are very similar, what? jarvis cocker might be the best lyrcist in music history. that alone makes pulp > blur.

There is nothing worse than an Oasis fan who still hates blur simply for the fact they had a feud in the 90's, so annoying

I don't know much about both bands, so my answer is neither.
Give me Mansen or Manics anyday.

I'm a huge Pulp fan but it has to be Blur due to their dynamic shifts in sounds over the years and willingness to experiment. Out of the two, though, I'll always love Pulp more. "Do You Remember The First Time?" is one of my all-time favorite songs.

I voted for Blur when this thread was posted, but now I'm leaning towards Pulp...

Pulp no question - amazing lyrics, great melodies, charisma, funny, unique. On the other hand I think Blur is pretty overrated, good band but doesn't deserve a place with Pulp, Oasis, Radiohead and The Verve in the 90s.

I voted for Pulp before and that's the way it's staying. Jarvis is a brilliant frontman and lyricist and, like Morrissey, he can convert a certain dark humour in his songs.
That song they did, 'Common People': that's the perfect encapsulation of the Britpop aesthetic.

My favourite album by Pulp is This Is Hardcore. A wonderfully dark reality comedown after the Britpoppy high of Different Class.

Fuck these well thought out comparisons - let's do Aphex Twin vs The Stone Roses!

Outside 'Common People', which is an undeniably a classic, I've never got Pulp. Nothing about them really appeals to me. Blur are a pretty cool however, so I guess it's a vote to them.

My favourite album by Pulp is This Is Hardcore. A wonderfully dark reality comedown after the Britpoppy high of Different Class. Mine too! I haven't really given Blur a chance. I like a few songs off the new album, and I like some of their hits. But none of it has made me want to check out the rest of their stuff.
