I see that Sunderland is safe, but is the 4th place safe from Arsenal? Just food for thoughts. Merci. there safe . plus 7 goal difference Beady’s Here Now can breathe easy Yup, 3rd is done and dusted. 30 shots on goal and a goalless draw would have really fucked me off if league positions were still mattering. We've been poor in the first half of every game for awhile now - the commentators keep suggesting it's due to the FA Cup Final and with no player wanting to get injured. Fair enough, I suppose. But I reckon that it's down to the simple fact that the top 4 was clinched a long fucking time ago...If it wasn't, I'd reckon to guess we would have seen different performances and results than what we got vs. Swansea, Sunderland, etc. Personally, if I was AW I would say to the team: "I know the league matches no longer matter, but I got a completely fit squad and you're going to need to prove yourself on the pitch in the remaining matches if you want to start in the Cup Final. Perform, or sit on the bench on May 30th."

It's OK though because Stevie G scored. That's all that matters.

Pearson for manager of the year. Anyone but would be criminal.

Easy to miss Leicester's result today with the relegation battle/Liverpool but that's another great result for them.
In other news, West Ham have announced Allardyce is gone minutes after today's game finished.

Pearson for manager of the year. Anyone but would be criminal. Why? Pearson was the one who got them in the relegation mire in the first place. He's gone on a great run in the last month or so but Leicester were terrible for over half of the season. They had the resources to stay up and they've done just that, without exceeding any expectations. As for Liverpool?

Obviously he's done really well to keep them up but it's easy to forget how bad they were up until around March.

liverpool showing their true ability today. havent rated them since the early 90s... rodgers is way over-rated aswell. he was brought in due to his form at swansea, but he had very little to do with building that squad. that came from an under-rated manager in martinez. hes the one that got swansea playing the football that made us all look up and take notice a few seasons ago. altho he did get wigan relegated i guess. but that was after winning the FA cup... not a bad last day. loads of goals anyway.

MotY should go to someone consistent.

I'd give MoTY to Pearson tbh, there's not much natural talent in that team apart from Mahrez,Ulloa,Albrighton and Cambiasso (and yeah Kramaric, but he's barely played) who's way past his prime, they're an hard-working team, sure they were bad in 2014,but Pearson has been good enough to turn things around in the last two months,so fair play to him If not him it has to be Koeman (especially if Villa don't win the FA cup final and they get to the Europa League) or Monk, hope it's not Mou

yeah, id go koeman before pearson. even tho they tapered off towards the end there, he did extremely well to keep them going at the same pace after the exodus in the off season. pretty much replaced everyone he lost with equal counterparts. poch did alright aswell. very up and down season, but i think theyll be happy with 5th. the special one will probably get it tho. and i guess, he really has been the most consistent manager this season from beginning to end. very little doubt since the start of the season that they would lift the trophy. hes a winner and thats a managers job in the end.

Yeah Pochettino did alright after a rough start,he deserves some praise for what he did with Kane and Ryan Mason and even Eriksen who's finally showing why he was deemed as a great sign when they got him two years ago after a tough first season, although that might have more to do with him initially having difficulties to adapt to a different style of football than with Pochettino himself,I think he's a pretty good manager tbh I've always rated Martinez really high too,but he hasn't been able to recreate the magic that was there last season Tony Pulis deserves a shout too, what he did with Palace last year was incredible, but he's been great this year as well, even though the team was probably too good to go down anyway

I'm struggling to decide whether Liverpool or Newcastle have a bigger sense of entitlement.

BIG SAM doesent do that he just plods along andf keeps small teams in epl ..... dont get it

Pearson for manager of the year. Anyone but would be criminal. With the money he has spent and the players he bought, escaping relegation was the bare minumum for him. A good run shouldn't take away that fact.

I'm struggling to decide whether Liverpool or Newcastle have a bigger sense of entitlement. Oh definitely Liverpool, albeit both are bad. West Ham are probably next on the list, believing they're entitled to great football as that's the "West Ham way" when in reality I can't remember West Ham being better than a boring mid-table team in my lifetime and they've often been worse.

At least with Liverpool it is based on past success whereas Newcastle don't seem to have won anything in decades. Thats why i think they are worse.

BIG SAM doesent do that he just plods along andf keeps small teams in epl ..... dont get it Everybody would love to see their team to play good football, and there are teams who do it without being contenders or having huge budgets,Garry Monk is doing it with Swansea,Pochettino has done it with Southampton and Koeman is carrying on with the same attitude,Palace did it last year There are teams here in Italy like Sassuolo and Empoli who've been playing the best football in the league for the whole year despite fighting for relegation (Empoli even kept the same side as last year when they were in the second league bar a couple of addictions) and it paid off Of course when you're staying up and doing it pretty much safely it means your manager has done a respectable work, but you don't want to see your team playing boring football, the perfect manager is someone who can make a team effective and enjoyable at the same time, and there are lots of guys not just in the Premier League who have showed they're able to do that
