If a band that deserves more praise then they do get today, it's this 4 piece band from New Zealand. With their power pop, thanks to the awesome songwriting of band leader Neil Finn. I always loved Together Alone and WoodFace, I think Woodface was the biggest selling album in the UK back in 1991 or 92 I believe. Together Alone didn't do as well but it's a great album. Their First two albums Self titled debut (which was their biggest seller in the U.S.A, thanks to Don't Dream It's over) and Temple of Low Men which is really underrated. Here are a few of my favourite tracks from the band
I haven't listened to any of their newer stuff since reuniting like Time on Earth and Intriguer. By the way their greatest Hits Recurring Dreams is one of the best to delve into this great band.

Neil Finn is genius and his son Liam is a multuple musician too.
Their timeless classic "Don't Dream It's Over" is one of Noel Gallagher's favourite songs.

Neil Finn is genius and his son Liam is a multuple musician too. Their timeless classic "Don't Dream It's Over" is one of Noel Gallagher's favourite songs. I think many are put off by the cheesy album covers and videos but damn those songs are brilliant. I saw them live a few years ago and my dad saw them back in 92, we both agree they are one of the best live bands we ever seen. Neil is a great frontman, he's full of chat and is a funny guy. Paul Hester is sadly missed, his backing vocals and drumming were brilliant. Another great album they released was Afterglow, a album of unreleased and b-sides collection. That's a underrated album too. I loved Liam Finn's I'll be Lighting, his debut. He's got his dad's ear for melody.

lahaine, I've seen Liam Finn in 2008. He was supporting The Black Keys when they weren't very known. I was impressed about Liam, playing on his own, but it wasn't just a "one man show".

All three Neil Finn solo albums are brilliant too. One Nil (his second solo album) is one of my favourite albums of all time. I am seeing him next month and saw Split Enz reunion gig in 06. He is incredibly underrated outside of New Zealand but here they are considered musical royalty. I was born and brought up in the UK, so I'm not biased either Probably my fave Crowded House song. A split Enz song that Neil's brother wrote, an absolutely amazing song. From the 2nd Finn brothers album, just wait for Neils chorus. I couldn't find the album version. And the New Zealand national anthem

I really loved his session he's done with Lisa Germano for Morning Becomes Eclectic 10 years ago. "Fall At Your Feet" with Lisa on piano and backing vocal was brilliant.

It's a shame that the Together Alone album suffers a bit from CD-era bloat, especially as it had to follow up Woodface which was such a masterwork (for the most part).
I wish they'd been a bit tougher with themselves when it came to editing the tracklist down, and got it down around 40 minutes.
I think this works well: 1. Kare Kare 2. In My Command 3. Nails in My Feet 4. Locked Out 5. Private Universe
6. Pineapple Head 7. Fingers of Love
8. Walking on the Spot 9. Distant Sun 10. Catherine Wheels 11. Together Alone
