Sounds like a classic from the 90s, this. I'm so glad it's a standalone single (for now, at least). Deserves the spotlight.

Received an email from Johnny's official store yesterday that due to high demand, my order for Comet Tripper triple coloured vinyl will be delayed. Probably they'll be shipped in March/April.

Johnnys touring but there’s only one Canadian stop, Toronto area, so I guess that’s another album cycle I’ll miss out. I would really love to see him, especially on this tour.

Been listening to "We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank" by Modest Mouse since yesterday. I had never heard of Modest Mouse until Johnny joined the band. I bought this album and went to see them, just to see Johnny for the first time in 2007. Their gig at Melkweg was planned in July, but due to Issac Brock's voice issue the gig was postponned 1 day before. In September I saw them with Johnny and met him for the first time in person outside venue. Joe Moss was with him. They were truly gentlemen. The gig was great. Johnny was the only one who dressed up cool between those American guys with bass ball caps on stage. Listening to this album since ages again, makes me realise how brilliant it was/is. Listen to this song. At 1:27 is incredible.

Fuck me if I'm wrong, but isn't Stop Me If You Think... the best piece of music ever recorded? Those layered guitars full of harmonics, the syncopated rhythm, the thick bass, the vocals... all the bits are so well mixed and crystal clear. Man, this is pure perfection.

Woke up this morning with the main riff of "This Tension" playing in my mind. I don't know why this song never gets mentioned... and also why Johnny has never played it live. It's brilliant imho.

And he has confirmed that he's releasing a new single - The Bright Parade - in September! It sounds tasty reading his description of the tune (from a NME interview, link):

Top gig. Great set, great attitude. It was 40 degrees and the sun in the top of our heads, but definitely worth it. By far the best gig of the day. He also spoke about (what I believe is) the polemic Mozz thing that happened like 3 days ago. He said: 'Here in Spain,I want you all to know that British people are fucking idiots. But not everyone, trust me.'

Glad to hear that you had a great time seeing Johnny for the first time, seanrulesrh . "British people are fucking idiots. But not everyone, trust me." Thank you mimmi! Yes,it was absolutely great. I missed a couple of songs, but they didn't gave him more than 50 minutes so he played like 10 songs. I would've left out the Electronic ones,at least one of them. And played This Charming Man or something from Call The Comet. Spiral Cities wasn't in Easy Money was surprisingly great and Hi Hello was top. The Tracers was slowed down for some reason. And Walk Into The Sea was also amazing. How Soon Is Now,Bigmouth and There Is A Light were definitely the best (obviously). Overall, one of the greatest guitarist of all time left his name up there with a brilliant gig

He's got such a great personality and a very modest guy.
