Damon Albarn
Black Keys Beck Broken Bells Ray Lamontagne
Disappointments: Jack White. So far I just can't get into it. I'll give a few more listens before I give up Coldplay. I enjoy most of it but had much higher hopes. It's a little too slick for me in the production depaartment. The bonus tracks on the other hand are brilliant.

Much better than their top 200 tracks. I found that list to be pretty horrible if I'm being honest. Theres no way that Grimes has written the best song in the past five years. With that said, this one is solid with Tame Impala, Beach House, Frank Ocean, Kendrick Lamar, and Kanye in the top ten. I'd probably take out Yeezus though. Teen Dream, Channel Orange, MBDTF, good kid, m.A.A.d city, Lonerism would all at least make my top 8 with at least 2/3 making the top 5. Their love for Vampire Weekend and Deerhunter is meh. They are both decent bands but Vamp's music is too trendy, and stylized for me. Deerhunter is kinda like a poor mans Spoon. Not consistently great but consistently good/decent.

I was happy with the top 200 songs list. Tons of Arcade Fire, Tame Impala, LCD Soundsystem, Real Estate, The War On Drugs, Titus Andronicus, The National, etc. I actually enjoy plenty of Deerhunter and love the Grimes track named #1 overall.

Can't really argue with any of that. I'm just not really a big fan of Grimes. I can appreciate her music. It is certainly unique and she's inspired countless copy cats. She has a creative artistic vision so I can't really downright say she's shit (like I would say about Lorde) but I just find her overrated. She's tasty but nourishing ear candy with regards to production. She also has a nice sense of melody but her voice is really annoying to me. I can only take it in small doses. If we're picking whose you're favorite art house singer songwriter chicks I'll pick St. Vincent over her any day of the week and twice on sunday. Their music doesn't share that much in common but I do think as artists they have a lot in common, if that makes any sense. Deerhunter is one of the few rock bands that balance experimentation and good old rock n' roll really well these days. There's just something missing for me. Not willing to call them great but they are very good. Atlas Sound is also one of the finest solo projects around. The best songs from Parallax and Logos rival some of Deerhunter's best work.

Gave Royal Blood's album a few listens now and it's probably my favourite of the year so far. It sounds as if the lead singer is channeling his inner Jack White. Thoughts? Don't know much about this band outside iTunes.

Don't know much about this band outside iTunes. There's definitely a Jack White influence there. They've been compared to The White Stripes, Black Keys etc simply because they're a two piece but I think they're more akin to DFA 1979 or even QOTSA in terms of how powerful they are.

Loving "Eight Houses" by She Keeps Bees. Hozier would have made it to this list only if it wasn't that about 8 songs on the album were already released on previous EPs and I'm sick of listening to them.

Loving (understatement) IQ's Road of Bones. I sadly am (for the first time ever) calling the new Opeth the worst album for the year. Jesus Christ Mike, if I wanted to hear Goblin I'd listen to said band!

Ryan Adams by Ryan Adams, Blues Pills by Blues Pills, Warpaint by Warpaint, Everyday Robots by Damon Albarn and Bailar En La Cueva by Jorge Drexler are my favorite albums of 2014.
Let Downs... I'd say Enclosure by John Frusciante and Banda do Mar by Banda do Mar.

I was watching the webcast of some festival in Germany a couple of weeks ago and I discovered this band called "Kill It Kid". I've been listening to their old albums on spotify and got hooked
Turns out they're showcasing their new album via youtube. Great stuff
