Mostly good so far... Damon Albarn, Temples, Reverend and the Makers and Kasabian all released albums I'm into. Gruff Rhys's new one was a bit of a let down though. Maybe I'm just craving the return of the Super Furries though

Favorites: 1. St. Vincent - St. Vincent 2. Future Islands - Singles 3. Mac DeMarco - Salad Days 3. Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks - Wig out at the Jagbags 5. Real Estate - Atlas 6. Cloud Nothings - Here and Nowhere Else 7. Sharon Jones & the Dap-kings - Give the People What They Want 8. Damon Albarn - Everyday Robots 9. The Pains of Being Pure at Heart- Days of Abandon 10. The War on Drugs - Lost in the Dream
Honorable Mentions: Some haven't gotten enough spins Beck - Morning Phase Black Lips - Underneath the Rainbow The Horrors - Luminous Little Dragon - Nabuma Rubberband Parquet Courts - Sunbathing Animal Schoolboy Q - Oxymoron
Disappointments 1. The Orwells - Disgraceland (its not a bad album but they've rounded off their edges a little too much and the songwriting isn't as good as their debut) 2. Coldplay - Ghost Stories (Maybe 1-2 songs that I'll listen to this time next year but otherwise pretty forgettable. Are they done with making great albums) 3. Schoolboy Q - Oxymoron (again not a bad album its just his weakest release to me but it has a lot of great moments: Collard Greens, Man of the Year, Los Awesome, Studio, Hoover Street) 4. Kasabian - 48:13 ( I don't know why I keep trying/have hope that they can become a great band. A pretty bad release)
It has been a pretty great year for music. Heres to hoping for a few more great releases

I like Lana Del Rey's Ultraviolence. Haven't had a chance to listen to Kasabian's new one in full yet but I like what I've heard.

I misread "Let down so far" only when I posted above post, so here's the edit. Favourite albums this year so far: Sun Structure - Temples Rave Tapes - Mogwai More Modern Classic - Weller A bit disappointed in The Rifles new album, but they're truly great live. They're the band you definitely gotta see. and I still have to get new Manics and Echo and The Bunnymen. Both bands played quite a lot of new tunes when I saw them last month, especially Bunnymen.

I've really liked the new Embrace and Horrors albums and Distant Satellites by Anathema is an absolute masterpiece The new Kasabian album is okay, their worst by far but it was a fun listen for the first few times. To be honest all I'm really anticipating for the rest of the year now is the Grant Nicholas solo album and the new Cure album This year has been absolutely shit for my taste in music to be honest, every year I usually find at least 10 new albums that I like but this year has been crap! It's sad, I'm only 21 and I've really not been able to get into the popular music or even what's popular with the alternative/hipster crowd for about 5 or 6 years. I so wish I got to grow up in the 80's or 90's (Not that I'm desperate to like what everyone else likes) It would just be nice to have had great music to grow up to that I could be a part of if you know what I mean

Protection is a great great tune, and I love Quarters. Favourite album has to be The War on Drugs's new album, in addition to Damon Albarn's.

Not been a lot this year that I've liked.
1. Paolo Nutini - Caustic Love 2. Pharoahe Monch - P.T.S.D 3. Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Cocaine Piñata
The Kasabian album was alright, biggest disappointment of the year was The Roots new album, such a let down.

I'd say Everyday Robots and Thirty Two by Reverend And The Makers are my favourites Temples and Paolo Nutini are pretty good,George Ezra's new album too,but I should give it a few more listens Kasabian and Coldplay were ok but not as good as I expected (or wanted them to be)

Yea I'd agree with that, I've always loved Embrace but a bit too sugery is a good description for their last couple of releases. In the End is my favorite by far though, it's like a slightly less straight more mature Ashes, catchy and very addictive to listen to. Great band and Danny Mcnamara's studio voice is one of my favourites

The Hold Steady - Teeth Dreams
Haven't listened to it that much recently, but am right now.
I haven't really uncovered any other album this year other than Teeth Dreams. May take a gander at this thread for some ideas.

Favourite album: Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs. Astonishing!
Biggest let down: 48:13 by Kasabian. I do really like a couple of tracks (Bow, Stevie), but the rest is mostly rubbish...

Thus far I've really enjoyed the new Broken Bells, Hamilton Leithauser and Damon Albarn albums.
I also enjoy many of the tracks off the new Kasabian album as well which wasn't a great album but basically their trademark sound at this point. Still a tremendous live act.
In terms of the Coldplay album, very so-so but with some very good moments mixed in like Always In My Head, magic, Midnight, Oceans and the incredible O.
I can't wait until the new Spoon album drops.

Temples album is great, Kasabian was alright, Coldplay a bit disappointing. Damon Albarn's album has a few good songs, but I forget about most of them. Everyday Robots and Heavy seas of love are definitely my favourites.
