If Noel NEVER sang lead on a song, meaning it was all Liam, do you think the band would be as big as they are now? Or not as popular?
I'm just listening to Noel do Slide Away from Dublin 96, and its PHENOMINAL.

The only huge difference maker I can see is Don't Look Back In Anger. Most of the Noel songs to really cherish were all from concerts, bootlegs, and b-sides. So I think it would mostly have been the same, just chop off a significant amount of success they had through the WTSMG era.
At least that pretty much goes for the US. I don't know exactly how well known his songs were in Europe.

Possibly. It's hard to tell. Don't Look Back In Anger is always playing when VH1 mentions Oasis.

I'd like to have heard Liam sing Don't Look Back in Anger, back when his voice was capable. I doubt Wonderwall would have been as big as it is if Noel had sung it, though. It's pretty monotonous. DLBIA's chorus is the hardest Oasis song to sing, I find. Someone should invent a capo for the bollocks.

Noel put his own stamp on The Importance of Being Idle...
And when you listen to stuff he's done like Full On and the Helter Skelter cover, and Masterplan, I think that's what makes Oasis so good - they've got two voices - different, but both brilliant in their own way.
Oh and check out his acoustic Morning Glory on There and Then

^^^Definitely. There are some songs for Noel, and some songs for Liam. For instance, I hate it when Noel sings Cigs and Alcohol, I'd rather hear Liam.

i think they would have been just as big, but whether or not oasis would be as good without noel is something else.
i reckon they would be just as big, most of the singles have been liam sung with the notable and important exception is dlbia. and then of course the later ones like little by little and importance of being idle. but i guess in my view, oasis popularity is derived from their early work, so i still credit the formula of liams voice and noels songs as what made them big.
but i think oasis is a BETTER band with noel singing. it makes it more varied and he has got a lovely voice and is appropriate for certain songs. but yeah, im glad he didnt sing wonderwall, that song is so good because of liams delivery.
i was just thinking about it today, i dont know if they would, but to bring back noels acoustic set at gigs. all this stuff about liams voice getting strained when singing on long tours and stuff, it would put less pressure on his vocals and oh my god, i would love to hear noel acoustically. some of the best bootlegs are him doing covers and singing slide away. and esp cos noel's voice keeps getting better and better and his vocals are sustainable through the tour, i mean i saw the later gigs of the tour in nov and in feb and noel was spot on both times. it makes sense to me anyway.
