www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27470554Wow. He made his debut in the old Division 1, before the Premiership even existed. That is crazy when you put it into perspective. Are there any other current professional players that are still playing who pre-existed the Premiership? Surely not, as that was a massive 22 years ago. Good on Giggs, though. Even if the fucker did ruin Arsenal's FA Cup chances in 1999(!). That classic loyalty is increasingly hard to come by. You won't get many Giggs', Alex Ferguson's or Arsene Wenger's that often any more. Dying breed after Gerrard, and John Terry (whom, by the way, is a right dickheaded twat, in both the literal and figurative form).

Awful human being who has a personal life so fucked up beyond repair he makes those who go on The Jeremy Kyle Show look saintly, but as a player he was terrific.
Though I don't think he was anywhere near Scholes personally - England's greatest player of the last twenty years, and criminally misused by that idiot Sven Goran Eriksson. Not that I care for England, but to neglect the talents of such a player is criminal in football. If I were Van Gaal and was looking to nurture a potential future United manager, I'd choose Scholes.

A great player and a one-club man With Zanetti that's also retiring we can say there's only Gerrard and Totti left

I'll never understand why anyone pays attention to what a player does on his private life.
Great player and hopefully will be very helpful to Van Gaal. I'm sure United will be on top again in 2 or 3 years.

My fondest memory of Giggs is his goal against Wigan on the last day of the season in 2008, sealing the title for United on the day that he equalled Bobby Charlton's appearance record.
Ten days later he broke that record and scored the winning penalty in the European Cup final. It's incredible to know that, five years later, at 39 years old, he was still capable of turning in man-of-the-match performances against opponents of Real Madrid's calibre. Another season wouldn't have been beyond him.
On balance, United's greatest ever player, and if he goes on to achieve even half as much as part of the coaching staff then Alex Ferguson won't be the only club legend with a stand named after him.

Nowadays I can't imagine there being a lot more one club players, especially not on Giggs' level.
Great player

The comments in this really sum up peoples pathetic hatred for Manchester United. Ryan Giggs is a better player than anyone I have ever seen. He shags who he fucking wants.

It's not hatred of Man Utd, I admire Man Utd - more than teams that buy the league like City and Chelsea from money off fraudulent means - but you don't need to be a football fan to see what a horrible guy he is. Do I know him? Nope, but anyone who shags their brother's wife for 8 years, makes her get an abortion, meanwhile shagging others behind his wife's back..... Well, I think that's more than enough evidence against his character! Man Utd have much better legends, Roy Keane got it spot on in his TV programme with Patrick Vieira - a very good player for his club but not a great one.
