Beats by Dr. Dre are absolute bobbins in terms of sound quality and durability, the only reason anyone buys them is for the brand and so they're basically just fashion accessories and of course, fashion being fashion I've noticed already a sharp decrease in people walking about wearing them around their necks. No doubt peoples first pair have broken and they've realised how much they're being mugged off, £160-odd for a mediocre set of headphones that'll break in no time at all

It amazes me how naive people are it don't matter the quality of a product . People will spend money to look cool , why kids wore the hideous 8 ball jacket in 90 s it cost like 500 bucks it was pleather practically , same with fashionable sneakers cause some asshole wears who is famous ...dre product might suck , people will buy , it's cool ..so to get technical about why there cheap is stupid , apple ain't dumb it will be a goldmine

This is a very strange move by apple.
The headphones themselves like been said above have very little proprietary hardware inside them / aren't that good.
The streaming service would be little to know use as they already have licences in place for iTunes Radio.
Marketing wise Iphone / iTunes / iPad and even mac are leaders in their fields and apple pretty much most 'fashionable' brand out there so beats won't add any appeal for them.

And before any idiot out there thinks that racist ....it's not ,,,I happen to lead my life much Like many of my African American friends ...if I got 500 bucks , I'll save 20 for food spend the rest ....hence "disposable income " So even though the product may not be great it will be supported APPLE. Knows this ,...just like I would come home broke from Oasis gigs , people would ask why ? I'd say cause it was oasis , ..they will support cause it's dre

My point isn't that they could get short term sales/ profit.
Apple are the richest company with nearing $150 billion liquid cash available (with no debt)
They've been linked with many acquisitions over the years (including FB and Sony) as they could basically buy any company, but they never have. They only normally buy tech companies to help with their patent portfolio or help further the quality of their products
This is probably signalling their move into headphone / speaker market but as apple tend to be high quality items they'd been better buying/ partnering with Bose
Anyway just very interested to see where this goes as very out of character for them

Plus they might start making official Apple/Beats branded speakers. Apple failed to capture on the accessories market with official iPod and iPhone docks and this might make it easier than starting from scratch. Plus the profit margins on those headphones are enormous.

YOU INOW I KNOW YOUR COOL MAN ..... Just think it's a out of box move for them cause it can't fail .....they took heat for iPhone not being innovative enough last spring , maybe a change of attitude in not having to be so out ahead , just make money .,..not jobs like. But ....

.....they took heat for iPhone not being innovative enough last spring , ... TBF they say that about every iPhone that's ever been released. There isn't anything innovative about any smartphones anymore. Each iteration of smartphone has increased processing power and improved cameras and every two years they'll change the design or if your Samsung keep it for three years. Some phones might have some gimmicky features (Touch ID, Sbeam, Siri, Google Now) but there isn't really anything that separates the top of the line phones now.
