Why do people constantly write off oasis as just ripping off the Beatles? I have never seen it myself and just never understand it.
But am I wrong-do the Beatles sound like oasis?
You know when you begin to doubt yourself as this is all people say about oasis.
Seems a shame that this is whta they have been reduced to.

First it would be oasis sounding like the Beatles, and yes they do derive a lot of their sound from the Beatles. But, I think the biggest thing that gets people off on that is that they try to act like them more then anything. Liam is constantly trying to look like Lennon and if you look at their album artwork like in DBTT a lot of their pictures and poses are very Beatles-esk

? no
Their both melodic rock groups which go into different genres. Their core sound is different. Oasis has a lot more distortion.

i definitely see the comparisons in certain songs. however, i do think it gets highly overblown, due to them always talking about the beatles and comparing themselves to them. but then again, the beatles had shitloads of songs that were chord driven and oasis is much the same but with some distortion. and like posh said, alot of it has to do with the way they act like them and what not. so i guess i see why.
- cheers !

I think a good counter for this is to bring up that the Beatles pretty much have more notes and melodies to their name than anyone else, and it would be a waste for nobody to tinker with that sound and twist it into something new.
Ultimately it's a chliche, held mostly by people too lazy to explore enough of either band to get an original opinon and thus they believe the media farce that copying the Beatles was all Oasis did. There's nothing you can do.

You can't say hat they do not rip off the Beatles. Maybe it has been a little overblown, but Oasis does use a lot of the Beatles.
Remember :
- Videoclip of All Around The World = a parody on Yellow Submarine. - Liam always wanna be Lennon - Liam calls he's own son Lennon - Oasis and their haircuts - Liam wearing a The Beatles shirt on the inner sleeve of DM - The beds in the DLBIA video ... reference to Bed Peace ... - Let There Be Love = Imagine and Let It Be parody - Son of Ringo Starr play the drums in Oasis
And there are a lot more examples to give. No doubt, a lot of the Beatles is re-used. But a can't think of another band that can do or will do it better then Oasis. Oasis are The Beatles of our time. It's simple. But I have to say, Oasis is not that creative as the Beatles, but they are more diverse. Oasis uses a lot of Beatles stuff, they give you that feeling that The Beatles give to you ...
