Just watched this interview with Noel and Fenners. At the beginning of the interview Noel was asked how the album was doing? He said its half way recorded, two weeks left in studio.
He mentioned that all the Owen Coyle comments on the album being up there with DM were tongue in cheek as he is his pal.
Worryingly he really played the album down, he said it was "alright" and "not great". This could be Noel trying to calm expectations for once or it could be that he knows he does not have the songs??? We shall see.

He was the same when he talked about NGHFB so I think we shouldn't take these words too seriously Anyway an "alright" Noel Gallagher album is ok for me  |

Noel was definitely joking when he said that the album was "not the best" - it was Classic Noel Gallagher humour.

There's another Noel Gallagher thing on Sky Sports 1 this Wednesday evening at 17:30, with him chatting about City!! Half an hour, could be an extended interview of what he did on the Fantasy Football show!

At this point, Noel is making music for his own enjoyment. I don't think he's bothered whether his new album receives critical and commercial success or not.

Noel said Force of Nature was in his top 5 songs ever when HC came out. He was also impressed by Little James.
If anything, his comments here are a good sign.
